Fifa say third party ownership banned from May 1 2015. Existing contracts valid until expiry & new deals signed 1 Jan-30 Apr '15 subject 1yr max. How will this impact us and our rivals in relation to FFP ?

I can see it dramatically changing how South American stars come over.

I can see it making CFG opting for buying or taking a minority share in a south-American club..

3 more clubs and academies to come.

S America, China and Africa.

Not read all 1300 pages but the ones I have read have some contributions from some clever folk, could one of you enlighten me cos I think it is "You Cant get enough revenue cos you are not in the champions league, so the only way to move forward is to pay over the odds on transfer fees and wages cos good players don't really want to come to a club that's not in the champions league. Then when you do that they fine and sanction you." Where am I going wrong with this?

Pretty much spot on, Vive Dupont.

I'm in favour of keeping the thread open until sanctions are lifted, after that I don't see the point.

Two points:

1. I can't stand it when threads are closed and firmly believe they should be allowed to expire organically.

2. I think it rather presumptuous and naive of us to seriously believe that the ever evolving FFP that was specifically manufactured to halt our progress will not mutate into something else to further extend its original aims and objectives to halt us in the future.

Lest we forget, it's not even 12 months since UEFA under pressure from the G14 moved the FFP goal posts to ensure we were ensnared. This is war gents and I for one won't be downing my arms until I see UEFA's white flag waiving high and closely survey the terms of their surrender.

Until then, FFP is not over for us......

To be honest I think his summary kind of misses the point.

So, @Horlocks:

The FFP rules arent really concerned whether we have to pay over the odds for players or not. In fact, perversely, whilst seeking to stop us from spending money, those factions in UEFA who are against us are probably quite chuffed if we have to waste our money.

The real nub of the rules however is the introduction of the concept of clubs not being allowed to spend more than they earn, thereby attempting to enshrine forever the status quo with the already large, rich clubs being able to maintain their superiority in perpetuity by being allowed to spend more than the smaller less successful clubs. This is fair and preserves the natural order of things whereby these more prestigious clubs get their hands on the best players and the top prize monies and sponsorships etc.

Clubs being given money by their owners can't count it as their own money either, even though it is. So they can't even spend their own money, if it was given to them. But if a large successful club has a load of money given to it by a sponsor, that's OK.

This is fair too, obviously, since we can't have smaller clubs competing and god-forbid, winning anything, can we. Who knows where that road to hell could end? I mean, it could end up with Bayern Munich not being the top club in Germany, or even worse, United becoming an also-ran in the UK. Unthinkable. Hence these new rules were required to protect the natural order and natural "fairness".

Yes it is, we're in profit this season for FFP purposes. The profit margin will just grow in the future.

The only obstacle I can see them possibly throwing at us in the very near future is increasing the minimum number of HG players in the squad (and this would be more likely PL rules being changed). With the quality of the academy players coming through, beyond the very short term, this won't affect us either.

I'll believe it when I see it mate, to be honest. Platini & co have already paved the way for er, "improvements" to the system by keep talking about how FFP needs to be an evolving thing that is refined over time. We may have passed the current farcical rules, but who knows what's next.

If we accept that it's entire raison d'etre was to stop City (and I do) then the only hope I have of clear blue water from here is if UEFA cannot think of any new rules that are not blindingly obviously unfair and just aimed at persecuting us. If they can think of something that superficially looks like a reasonable tweak to the system, but which underneath is detrimental to us, I think they will implement it in a heartbeat.

That said, this goal - whilst I am convinced will be their aim - will be tricky to accomplish. They have already pushed the bounds of credibility of FFP to breaking point with most of the neutral press now pretty much against it. Any further nobbling will be difficult to conceal and the wealth of good publicity around CFA and the redevelopment of East Manchester, makes us a difficult target.

They can't get us on revenues now - we've got plenty of those!
They can't get us on debt - we've got none of those!
So , there's the puzzle for uefa - what can they get us on? What do the "elite" clubs have that we don't - what factor do they possess that we don't? What greatness do we not share with these paragons of goodness and success?
ISTREEE - of course!!!!
FFP addendum no.1 2015 - "clubs without istree will not be permitted to win anything"
Dammit - looks like they got us at last!

You must have missed it mate, that was in the old rules already.

More seriously, I can imagine further restrictions on inter-group transactions and player movements for a start. Perhaps - don't laugh - reducing the the allowances made for Academy expenditure, which is currently all exempt. The slight issue with that is that we've spent the capital now, so they'd have to be careful not to ensnare other clubs who have yet to make big Academy investments.
