Some one mentioned the ex wolves owner, jack Hayward, who passed away today.

He bought the club for £10 (presumably cleared shit loads of debt) and then then put £50m of his own cash into the club, ok they didn't reap any sort of success out of it but they had a few bashes at the prem and have a great ground now and his legacy in that respect lives on.
When he sold the club (for a tenner, got his money back ha ha) to Steve Morgan he insisted that £30m (the actual value of the club) was invested into wolves to sustain them and keep them afloat rather than receive it himself.

What a guy!!! But sadly such kind acts have now been outlawed. Absolutely fucking bonkers!!!

They did reap success in the most fundamental of ways. Molineux was a disaster, two of the stands were condemned. Crowds had fallen to 3,000 and this great old club was in serious danger of extinction. Look at them now. They might not be a Champions League club, but the ground is a fine one, they are stable and have capacity to grow. His legacy is that. And it's a fine one.

From what I remember he got dogs abuse from some of the Wolves fans who couldn't wait to get rid of him. When you look at some of the owners these days it makes you realise that you should be careful what you wish for.

I meant success on the pitch. As I said, the ground is great!!!

Wolves would be a club ripe for investment. The midlands/birmingham/black country haven't had a really successful team since villa in the early 80's and a decent team would pull in great crowds. Wolves also have a monopoly of any areas west of Wolverhampton. But... FFP forbids it. It's a disgrace.

Sorry, I knew what you meant, I wasn't taking issue with it!

I knew you weren't... I wasn't taking issue and thinking you were taking issue when really the was nothing to take issue with. Glad we cleared that up.

I was thinking if we didn't have ffp where would we be at this moment.
Would Sheikh Mansour have splashed the cash with a squad of the very best players in the world and possibly a Champions League in the bag, or would there have been steady progress as we've seen?

I actually think our progress would have been slower and we might not be as far along as we are now. Khaldoon has said several times that FFPs impending introduction forced us to accelerate our business plan to ensure we were CL regulars by the time that the regulations started to take full effect. He's also said that the long term plan for the club would always have been self sufficiency regardless of whether FFP was introduced or not.
