15m a year for 20 years doesn't seem that much..

For a club the size of Real Madrid and considering inflation in football over the last 5 years, never mind 20, it's absolutely fuck all. Desperate.

Well they will have to be our feeder club then to recoup some extra cash

The perk is they get £300m up front interest free to revamp the stadium. They wouldn't have gotten that anywhere else, even Microsoft/Coca Cola would probably have had to pay in instalments and the interest on a loan of that size would be crippling. Even 5% interest a year is £15m.

The thing is nobody will call it the Abu Dhabi Bernabeu, i'ts one of those old iconic stadiums that have little value for naming rights. Where a new stadium people will use the new name. Everybody calls our the Etihad. Newcastle for example have gone back to St James Park.

Ah right they giving them that 300m upfront its not 15m a year it just works out that way..

Because the sponsorship deal was cancelled due to outrage from the fans.

I'd have to see the minutae of the agreement to confirm it but the sponsorship deal over it's length has the same value as the capital of the loan, so it's pretty safe to presume that's the deal.

Yes, but even before they changed back nobody called it the sports direct, well except to wind them up. Chelsea would sell naming rights for any new ground, and get a good deal. but if they redevelop Stamford Bridge they would struggle to get big money to rename.
