However we seem to have got some sort of agreement that, for the purpose of the salary cap sanction, any performance related bonuses won't be included. I assume that only relates to things like bonuses paysble to the whole team for winning the league or cups, rather than things like bonuses to individual players for goals scored or appearances.
Why were numerous people suggesting the reason we were structuring our wages to be have lower basics but with higher success bonus payments as a way to loosen the shackles of FFP? Were they just misunderstanding the rules or has something changed?
I think some of it comes from the press and other fans who always assume every move we make is some FFP 'fiddle'. When we announced our wage to turn over percentage dropped, people quickly assumed that was some fiddle too, when all it was keeping the wage bill similar (or lower), and our revenues increased, ergo the percentage dropped.
It just makes more sense in general to stop paying players a fortune if they aren't performing. If you believe in City, and think you can win stuff, then you'll very well rewarded with bonuses, but you're not getting a mega pay packet for nothing. It's a very good way of finding out which players are really 'in' and which aren't. That said, this season's not been a good advert for that!
