Why would ADUG spend just because they can ?

Their Business Plan is working extremely well with FFP1 now history, perhaps any extra big spend will have to be very much the exception rather than the rule. I cannot see FFP2 changing the BP significantly irrespective of its relaxation content.
Surely the results on the field as well as off it have been extremely good and it is hard to imagine how it could have gone better.

Sure there will not be any need to worry about yearly P & L matters for FFP that is but I bet Sheik M.s will demand conformity to his P & L expectations.
Getting focus on Commercial Revenue will still be the order of the day rather than losing focus on why the investment was made in the first place by a spend spend demonstration.

This is fucking brilliant. It's over. They are going to allow "investment" and that's all we need.

I honestly think that much of this was cooked up in those meetings during that week where the announcement of our fine was delayed and delayed and delayed. I reckon Khaldoon and Soriano have ultimately played hardball here and pulled it off.

Even some of the language used by both parties at the time suggested that. UEFA made bizarre comments like "FFP has been a success", Khaldoon was bullish.

It can only be one of three things I can see pal...

1) Khaldoon's call for a ten-year monitoring period which will allow investors to prove their long-term commitments, and an addressing of clubs in severe debt.

2) Investment which is not a loan, which has to be converted to equity.

3) A sum equal to the window spend that is then held in Escrow by Uefa to ensure the club can sustain itself over an agreed period.

Yeah, I'd make you right. Win/win/win for Sheikh Mansour. The cost being the £19m fine we actually paid and a year or two's "hump". The payoff being a clear run for MCFC to do what they want. If that's the deal done then we've kept UEFA (and of course our sponsors) onside by allowing them a little leeway.

I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T, OB1. I honestly believed they had at the time we got fined, too. It's why all this "we can't wait a year until Pep makes his mind up" stuff is so bloody irritating. The Sheikh is a major player on the world stage and so are MCFC by proxy. We aren't old guard, but money talks, and our people are doing deals and pulling strings at the very top.

Its generally accepted that the next step for City, one to CL winning levels, would be a more expensive one than they previous investments.

I would imagine that the board of MCFC know this and are ready to invest suitable amounts of money.

I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T, OB1. I honestly believed they had at the time we got fined, too. It's why all this "we can't wait a year until Pep makes his mind up" stuff is so bloody irritating. The Sheikh is a major player on the world stage and so are MCFC by proxy. We aren't old guard, but money talks, and our people are doing deals and pulling strings at the very top.

They are also playing the long game and trying to build an ultimately self-sustaining business; which is why I do not expect them to simply go out and overspend of a bunch of galacticos. Although I will be very disappointed if we do not see some serious financial muscle flexing this summer.
