I've booked a slot at the wacky warehouse just in case.

I honestly think that much of this was cooked up in those meetings during that week where the announcement of our fine was delayed and delayed and delayed. I reckon Khaldoon and Soriano have ultimately played hardball here and pulled it off.
Even some of the language used by both parties at the time suggested that. UEFA made bizarre comments like "FFP has been a success", Khaldoon was bullish.
It can only be one of three things I can see pal...
1) Khaldoon's call for a ten-year monitoring period which will allow investors to prove their long-term commitments, and an addressing of clubs in severe debt.
2) Investment which is not a loan, which has to be converted to equity.
3) A sum equal to the window spend that is then held in Escrow by Uefa to ensure the club can sustain itself over an agreed period.

Why are we 'only' going for the likes of Firmino & De Bruyne if FFP is no longer an issue?
Who says we are ?? The media ?? Enough said. The cockwombles of the earth.

fbloke said:This might not go down well here but I for one congratulate Platini.
I've said this previously on other FFP threads and I dont think people got it TBH.
Platini is a VERY sharp operator and one who has negotiated a path through the treacherous waters of European football politics to get to the very top. Once he got there he saw for himself the power of the G14 (as was) and I think he saw that they needed to have their wings clipped.
He gave them FFP, allowed them to formulate it, rubber stamp it and consistently made it clear who had asked for it, even naming names.
He then gives several interviews (including the famous Samuel one) which were so extraordinary as to hole the FFP ship
below the water.
He then continued to allow the world to know that it was the old elite who wanted this.
When they changed their minds he again made it crystal clear why FFP had to change.
Platini has played a blinder.
I've said it before and I stand by it - Platini was the enemy within for FFP and h let the 'big' clubs neuter themselves.
Bravo!

You KNOW it makes sense. He has, in one super cool move, taken the power away from the clubs. Beautiful, simply beautiful.
