City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

I seem to remember earlier on this thread some discussion regarding the Sheik buying into Manchester Airport, has anyone got any solid info on this ?

The reason i ask is that a friend of a friend who works at Stanstead Airport has heard rumours he is trying to buy into that aiport as well as Manchester.

Not sure about Sheikh Mansour mate, but Manchester Airports Group (essentially the 10 GM councils and some Aussie investors) own Stanstead airport. So if anyone was looking to buy in to the holdings company of Manchester airport, they'd also essentially be buying in to Stanstead at the same time.

Correct. The original link with Abu Dhabi (rather than specifically Mansour, I think) was that the purchase of Stansted took place with the proceeds of a share issue in which the Aussie investors took a 35% (IIRC) holding in the company, while the holdings of MCC and the other GM councils had their shareholdings diluted accordingly; however, before settling on the Aussies, MAG was also in talks with Chinese investors and Abu Dhabi investors. Chinese investors (don't know if they're the same ones) have also invested significantly in the Airport City scheme. Meanwhile there have been occasional rumblings over the last few months in the local business press that the original Abu Dhabi group retains an interest in buying up the shareholding of the Aussies, who are rumoured to be amenable to the idea of selling out at a profit. No idea if true, but this is the background to these rumours.

Thats probably where the rumours have come from, cheers.

Glasshouses and stones spring to mind with that shower of shite, most of them think football only started in 1992 or whatever the year was when the Premier League started.

Wankers the lot of em!! I'm loving their pain it's absolutely wonderful.

I had one of them (a season ticket holder, to be fair) go out if his way, at a wedding the other week, to inform me that after the Qatar World Cup, the Qatari Government are going to take over his beloved Utd.
"Fergie has it all arranged," no less...
I asked him why the wait and he mumbled something about the Glazers hanging on in there until they're on a firmer financial footing but they'd be in a position to sell by then.
He was so convinced of this fantasy that I didn't whether to laugh at him or pity him.

The quirk in their logic that eludes them (and Red Scousers in the past too), is that such a "mega-takeover" (to coin a phrase) is perfectly legitimate for their club(s) but entirely inappropriate for anybody else.

They are unbelievable, but don't forget they earn their money!!
