City argue that the Etihad deal represents fair value
Well IF that is true, and it is a big fat IF, it means they are challenging the international accounting standards definition of what constitutes a related-party, which considering they have basically copy and pasted the same definition in their rules, puts them up shit creek from a legal standpoint.

Anyone a Times subscriber? would love to read that article

City and UEFA are a long way apart.

City vehemently opposed to accepting multimillion pound fine or player reductions

City argue that the Etihad deal represents fair value

Quotes by Bosman lawyer questioning legitimacy of FFP
Anyone who actually believes that the Etihad deal doesn't represent fair value, given our standing in the game in the last three years, is clinically insane.

If this is true, it's exactly what we needed to hear. Let's stand up to UEFA and their corrupt bully boys. We're no longer lickle City and we won't/shouldn't allow ourselves to let these people dictate things to us.

Over here in Spain, practically all clubs are in MASSIVE debt, but I haven't heard anything from Platini and his cronies about punishment for Madrid, Barca or Atlético. Not being a financial whizz-kid, I certainly do not understand the full implications of this FFP business, but it makes no sense to punish City when you have that lot from Stretford up to their eyes in debt.

Let's have a go at them!

how about monaco

Like Liverpool they haven't been audited because they weren't in European competition this season. Their turn will come next season but they're probably keeping their powder dry and waiting to see how it pans out for City and PSG.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Various sources on Twitter quoting French sports daily L'Equipe on PSG's punishments under FFP. I've copied and pasted one such tweet below:

Get French Football ‏@GFN_France
L'Equipe: PSG FFP punishments:
1) Wage Bill Restrictions
2) €60m fine
3) #UCL squad size limit (21)
4) Transfer controls

how does this make any sense? Theoretically both teams can enter the CL with an unfair advantage if others have been reprimanded.

I reckon they have moved the goalposts and we have been duped into believing we were OK only suddenly for publicity stakes for us to be made an example of. If UEFA have acted underhand I reckon the Sheikh might just go to war. Pure speculation on my part.

Pretty much nail on head rammy. That is what the brewing storm is about. The owner and board are NOT happy!

Pretty obvious they are not happy about it.
The timing of Gill´s appointment was clearly no coincidence was it?

Isn't it funny, we get bought by a guy willing to put insane money into the club and then FFp comes along.

I'm sure he would have spent another 500m if it wasn't for this stupid rule

I doubt it. He bought City to MAKE money in the medium to long term.
He will get bitten by the bug as will his children and other family members but he will still make money and will be taking £200m a year out of City within 10 years, I don't care though because City will still be able to compete.

I very much doubt he bought City to make money.

To make us expense neutral is his goal no doubt, but not to make £££ from us.

You obviously know nothing about the motivations he had in buying the club
