Have we any idea when the official punishment will be announced (my guess saturday for the agenda theorists) and when will city actually make a statement.

It'll probably take some time if we go to the appeals panel. By keeping the official punishments confidential - in that each club doesn't know the fines for the other clubs - UEFA are making it difficult for us to know if we are being fairly or unfairly treated. This is how UEFA play, they want transparency, but only when it suits them.

Personally I'm sniffing a Qatari-Platini stitch up. Maybe with a bit of Barca thrown in.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Apologies if posted before, I've seen the Daily Mail link on here but not the actual article.

UEFA are set to further infuriate Manchester City by announcing that Paris Saint-Germain will face only a £20million one-off fine for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

City are already upset with European football's governing body over proposals to fine them £49m, payable in three instalments, and impose sanctions that would cut their Champions League squad cut from 25 to 21.

It was thought that big-spending PSG would face a similar 'settlement' following an investigation into their finances - in particular a £167m sponsorship deal with Qatar Tourist Authority.

However, Sportsmail can reveal that PSG, confirmed as French champions on Wednesday night, will face a significantly smaller fine.

The move will incense City's Abu Dhabi owners, who feel harshly treated after reducing their annual losses from £98m to £52m over the past two years.

City are believed to have until Friday to accept the settlement or appeal to a panel empowered to impose even harsher, non-negotiable sanctions, including possible Champions League exclusion.

It was unclear whether PSG would face similar Champions League squad cuts and imposition of a salary cap but coach Laurent Blanc admitted UEFA's action means his club 'won't be able to do everything it wants' in Europe next season.

Would I be the only one who wouldn't give a shit if we were banned from Europe for a season? It's not ideal but the UCL isn't exactly brimming with quality matches and it's got corruption riddled through to its very core. I know I probably wouldn't miss it, although no doubt the owners will, we have all been fooled (and the MANY sponsors) into thinking it is the absolute dog's bollocks in regards to Football Tournaments. That is the absolute opposite of what it is, when was the last time there was an absolute classic match that wasn't already an established derby? I've seen better football overall watching mid-table BPL teams duke it out. But of course football can go hang when the money coming in is just so big, especially from Russian gas and oil magnates, oh what's that you say? Big spending Chelsea were in the semi-finals again? What a coincidence.

I'd rather win the league ten times over than win the UCL just once, I honestly mean that.

The only issue is do the players want CL football. Is it the prestige or the money? If the latter, we can sort that, but if it's prestige then we have to be in it.

There's an article on the daily mail from an financial expert saying we've failed it due to our wage bill in 10/11 season. That gets wiped out next year but will city accept the fine as they know we will pass it from next season onwards? After all this 50m could be completely made up and we've got a fine much less than is reported.

That "financial expert" is Ed Thompson who is not an expert, been chewed up and spat out on here by Prestwich Blue and others. He is a self-appointed expert on FfP runs a website He trawls for info and then later repeats rumour and opinion of others as though it is fact
