City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

We have 49 mil to spend.if people are unhappy with that amount with the squad we already have then feck me it is time to give heads a wobble.we cannot have superstars in every position.we need graft, skill and intelligent players.we will not buy players( or so called) top players just because our rivals want them.why fear what other teams are doing.relax and let other teams& supporters worry about us.

Great post..Sagna,Fernando and hopefully one of Benatia or Mangala and I think thats a fantastic window. We dont need to spend silly amounts imo at the mo,just a few smart additions and we are in a strong position. If we sell say Yaya which I doubt we will then we will gave to replace.

I agree. I think our cap is of little implication for us. What some people are worried about is the amount of strengthening they see by our rivals. The merry go round of top quality players seems particularly strong this year. Almost like clubs are taking advantage whilst PSG and ourselves are out of the market. In reality, Liverpool have to balance their books and already spent 40m and not touched their main weaknesses in defence. Likewise, United have spent 100m but merely replaced like with like - is Shaw really better than Evra? I do think United will come on strong though.

Tony Blair used to have a saying "Never underestimate the Tories, never over estimate the Lib Dems". I think you can substitute United and Liverpool.

Tony Blair, now there's a man who Sheik M. could use to talk to Blatter / Platini.

I understand he has opened an office in AD or Dubai and his experience in convincing people that black is white may be exactly what UEFA's officials can understand.

Unfortunately FIFA see openness as weakness so perhaps they will respect someone who talks their language of lies and deceit.

+1 for that, they may challenge for a top 4 slot (and that's not guaranteed) but they're of no concern to us except as a nailed on 6 points to our total ;)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Reported that Nasri is to take a basic pay cut of £40k with additional incentives.

That's great if true. It would put an end to mercenary taunts from gooners.
You've got more faith in gooners than I do then...

Besides has anyone ever given a monkeys what the gooners think?

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Nearly all the players are going on lower basic wages with bigger bonus incentives.

It was a model they used when running Barca.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

So we are linked with Mangala,Barkley,Willy Callabero and Sanchez.

I would fucking love to sign all three of these, now I know it is doubtful but if we did how would we comply with FFP in the next set of accounts? No change out of what 100 plus million?

Even optimistically, I think it's certainly a case of Barkley or Sanchez and buying either would require us to sell a first team player (Yaya or Negredo?).

We've just made big investment in Nasri. Not seen much comment. Everybody happy?
It actually benefits us from an FFP perspective as it "saves" us about £3m a year in amortisation. Same if Milner signs up for another 5 years.
Getting Jimmy signed up is a bit of a problem though...

Need to keep Jimmy at all costs

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Guys,

another thread on another forum has inspired this thought but please bear with me for a moment.

Scenario
CFG hold the contracts of all youth players on the group books.

CFG hold all the costs (coaches/ players/ etc)

CFG pay City a rental for use of there training facility.

CFG free transfer players (as required) into our squad, either for use or sale...

CFG we see a 16 year old has real potential... he comes onto Cities books and the club hold him for 2 years (meets homegrown criteria.)

The club reduce there overheads
The club get income for a facility.

Does anyone see a negative in this system.

Would it work, Would it improve our FFP standings
