Where have all the stories in the press gone? Funny old thing, but it seemed that on the eve of our last 3 or 4 games some 'source' was quoted as giving our ffp transgressions and punishments, but today it's all gone quiet.
Anyone else smelling bullshit?

UEFA still haven't made any official statement about either us or PSG. Maybe it's slowly dawned on the press that all they've been doing is repeating what they've heard other reporters say, and back at the beginning of the chain, there's just a single hack who made everything up that just snowballed into a gigantic mass of low quality journalism.

Or PSG or City leaked it to gauge the reaction. It is all very strange, whether or not it is the work of a bullshitter as opposed to a leaker. Uefa are an absolute shambles as usual. They need to be putting their own house in order before they come after anyone else. I hope we're threatening to sue the shit out of them.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Us leaking it would be a strange tactic. Or maybe just a very bold one.

Everyone understands how important it is in some cultures not to be seen to be insulted and the need to save face. Therefore leaking it, along with leaking how offended and insulted we are, makes it more difficult for us to publicly accept it. It ups the ante considerably. If this was done in the expectation of a full and unconditional climb down by UEFA, you could say it was ballsy. If we were angling for a negotiated compromise, it's a strange tactic.

I'd say it more like UEFA leaked it tbh.

I cant see why City would leak it. We would surely want to keep it quiet whilst we're still negotiating. I think it was more a case of UEFA testing the water. The overall reaction in the UK press seems to be that proposed sanctions are too severe and that treating City and PSG the same is unfair. I haven't read any articles praising UEFA for taking a tough line. Not sure what the response has been like in Germany, France etc.

The delay must be slightly encouraging for us. UEFA cant be that confident about their position if they're still trying to agree a settlement.

I agree with your assessment, but not the final sentence. No-one wants this in court, no matter how strong they think their position is. It's terrible publicity for UEFA if the very first time they try to impose an sanction at all, it ends up in court. Far far better to somehow get the (allegedly) non-compliant parties to agree to accept something, even if its much watered down.

It depends on their level of commitment to the raison d'etre behind FFP. Given that the G14 tail wags the UEFA dog pretty vigorously, I'd imagine UEFA's resolve will be fairly strong. It might be excruciatingly embarrassing for them to lose in Court (and there's no guarantees they actually would), but would they rather risk that embarrassment than upset the cartel that pays the bills? I wouldn't like to call it personally. I hope they wouldn't, but given that they drafted in Gill to oversee the implementation of FFP, UEFA probably ain't calling the shots.......and there's nothing in football as bitter or vindictive as a rag, gooner or dipper being deprived of money and trophies

No sanctions and Gill resigns in disgrace - could happen, perfect Sündenbock

Odd that.... surely not a feeble attempt by the media to distract us.... it worked once for the FA Cup last year, so probably worth another try...
