How frustrating is it that so many have been hoodwinked by this whole affair. From the offset Platin (and increasingly he seems to be showing his lack of intelligence judging by his unprofessional acts) let it be known the true push behind these rules was from the parasitic fat cat owners. Yet most people in the press, in football (including club owners) and fans apparently refuse to see what is going on in front of their eyes! It's unbelievable to the extent that I'm starting to wonder if this this is just the start of something bigger, phase one of a wider political battle between the older Money and new.

It does show how easily 'the people' are blindly lead though.

Unfortunately the whole basis of FFP is founded on the unpleasant human emotions of jealousy, greed and protectionism. Most of football have looked at City/PSG/Chelsea etc. with green eyed envy. They have then sought to blame what has happened to these clubs for the ills within football rather than seeing that these clubs actions have been taken as a consequence to the current situation that has been permitted to develop. This has caused such short sightedness that it has permitted the evolution of FFP without a thorough analysis of its consequences, which as we know will be to create a competitive imbalance causing a permanent elite which will eventually strangle the game.

It is utterly remarkable that because people are still taken aback by the sums of money involved, which create great headlines for the tabloid reading moronic masses, that they still can't see what the effects of FFP will be. Again this is purely caused by envy. I can't believe that I am yet to meet a fan of clubs like Villa, Everton & Newcastle etc. that fully understands this. I wonder sometimes whether they have actually stopped to think about the consequences of FFP for their clubs' future. It seems to me that they haven't because they have been purely fixated on trying to stop City becoming one of the elite. I think we have had to give far more thought to the long term consequences of FFP than fans of other clubs because it was designed to stop us and because our analysis of it has not been riddled with envy. Again, whenever I speak to fans of other clubs about FFP their understanding of it seems very crude and they have swallowed hook line and sinker the sort of bullshit peddled by Wenger. Once I try to engage them in a deeper conversation about it it's evident that they know little about it, and they don't like to be told the truth.

It's very sad that legislation has been drawn up on these grounds. Slowly more people seem to be becoming aware of the long term ramifications of FFP and will come round to our view, but this will also require plenty of journalists to perform a volte face, which is not something they are renowned for doing.

You're absolutely right in what you say, but I think the change will come a lot more quickly than you may think, namely when the clubs this nonsense was set up to protect start to fall foul of it.
It's already had the effect on one of it's main instigators, the rags, being unable to instantly buy their way out of the shit they've dropped themselves in, and I'm sure plenty others will follow.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

We are in good shape lads but lets not get too carried away.

We have done some incredible things over the last 6 years and I am sure this will be a wake up call for our competitors. The way we have managed to ramp up our revenues so quickly shows what a shit job the others have been doing for so long. But we cannot expect them to remain shit at it forever.

Real, Barca, Rags, will remain bigger global brands for quite some time and will doubtless grow their revenues too. We can sit at the same table for sure, but it's going to take a decade or two before we are the top dog - not just in the footballing sense - and kids all around the world grow up mainly with City posters on their walls instead of Real / Tranny ones. I expect in time, it will happen though.

Sanctions are one year only if we meet FFP next year, which Khaldoon says we will ALREADY!

And, don't forget, transfers are NET of outgoings, so if we sell a player for €20M we get to add that to the €60M we can already spend!

Even though the media is making hay on the FFP "punishment," it is a virtual non-event given where we are and the plans already in place.

The teams that REALLY need to take notice are not based in Manchester!
Although PSG's really do seem to be for the 2 year period regardless.

I'm not sure anyone (or at least very few) have been hoodwinked. For some owners at least it gives them the excuse not to spend. The papers just enjoy the chaotic nature of it all and the trouble it,'s brewed up. Some fans maybe but perhaps they were so blinded by jealousy and/or hatred that they never even considered what impact it would have on their clubs. Or perhaps they just accepted that they would never get an owner such as ours?

Major FFP legal battle on the horizon between QPR and the Football League
THE Football League is bracing itself for one of the biggest legal battles in the history of the game if QPR win the Championship play-off final tomorrow.
By: Matthew Dunn Fri, May 23, 2014

Rain pours at Loftus Road[GETTY]

If the London club's record losses of £66m posted for season 2012-13 were to have been repeated for this Championship season, they will be liable for a fine of up to £50m under the Football League's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

However, with little evidence of a massive attempt to tighten the purse strings at Loftus Road, it is believed the club are set on a course of trying to overturn the punishment in the courts.

Were Derby to gain promotion instead at Wembley tomorrow, QPR's punishment would be to suffer a transfer embargo from January 2015 until they could demonstrate to the Football League they were on track to record more acceptable losses.

If, however, by cheating FFP rules they gain promotion, a Fair Play Tax will become payable in January depending on their final accounts, and could be demanded as one lump sum.

Certainly the cost of a legal challenge pales into insignificance compared to the amount at stake, around twice the £25m West Ham were ordered to pay in compensation to Sheffield United - the biggest payment demanded of a club.

The Football League remain confident they will be entitled to levy the tax despite the fact QPR will by then be members of the Premier League, having formulated their plans in conjunction with the top-tier clubs.

Indeed, such was the Premier League's involvement in setting up the proposals that it was they who insisted any fines paid by FFP transgressors should be given to charity rather than redistributed among the clubs that had toed the line, as was originally the plan.

And this week, the Championship's determination to stay steadfast to their FFP rules was underlined when an attempt to allow slightly greater losses in light of the greater parachute payments from next season failed to get the 75 per cent approval required.

I still haven't seen anywhere any information that says our transfer cap is for one year only. The UEFA statement clearly says 2 years.

Well City certainly state
The nature of conditions that will result in the lifting of sanctions means that the Club expects to be operating without sanction or restriction at the commencement of the 2015-16 season.
That's good enough for me.
