City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Or burying it in the sand/skewing an article to headline something else/adding irrelevant data from previous years to make a particular club look bad… and generally avoiding the big takeaway from it, as reported by the FT

Unbelievable Jeff!
Surprised they’ve seen our results tbh.

I'm not sure how meaningful "overtaking Utd" actually is ... because it covers a time when they didn't have 75000 Irish / Welsh / tourists / Londonders in their stadium every other week.

But even if our turnovers are only similar, it raises the question again of why they are constantly moaning about not being able to compete with us.

Fact is, they can (and do) spend every bit as much as us ... they just keep finding people like Sanchez, Pogba, Schweinsteiger, Depay, etc, etc who seem to give up on football as soon as they arrive. Even someone with the self confidence & drive of Ronaldo seems a bit out of sorts now he's wearing their shirt ? It's weird, but great for us City fans to see !

They are about 100m in euros behind in revenue iirc, last reported 1/4 match day with full attendance revenue scaled up to a year is about 90m… plus we do actually make a few pennies ourselves on matchday, so I’d say they’ve been overtaken, as I think predicted to happen by a few far more financially astute people, just before covid.

A rough calculation shows that our revenue will be around £537m against theirs of £464m, so we're nearly £75m ahead of them. Their matchday income is around £100m, whereas ours is around £55m, so that in itself doesn't help them. They went out the CL group stage whereas we got to the final but the season before, where the Europena competitions were delayed, they weren't in the CL at all and even though we only got to R16 (when we lost to Lyon) much of the money forthat will be included in these accounts.

So the current financial year could be close, depending on our respective CL performances. But if they don't get top 4 this season the 2023 FY should see us ahead again.

Imagine what our income could be if we had more than a half empty stadium every matchday and our owner not buying all our season cards or giving away all our other tickets free to schools, we'd be massive?
It's all fake news - we don't earn anything at all from broadcast revenues, prize money etc. It all comes directly from the Sheikh's pocket, everyone knows that. Get with the programme!

City having the highest TO., overtaking Utd, would send shock waves throughout football.

The simple message would be that the most successful clubs earn the most money. It is hard to argue against even for those with an agenda against City and our owners.

On our way to a fourth PL in 5 years. CL final last year (and consistently reaching the 1/4 finals in the 3 previous seasons) means big brands want to be associated with us. It's not rocket science.

United's main advantage is their match-day revenue which they didn't have for a lot of the time these accounts cover.

It shows why the ESL stuff was being forced through. They're scared of change.
