Ok, you are walking down the street and a copper stops you and tries to issue you with a spot fine for something you've not done. Do you accept it and in the process confirm your guilt or do you fight your corner and say "sorry plod, see you in court"?

I'm not clever enough to understand the ins and outs of football politics and the subtle nuances of how to play the corridors of power in Nyon so forgive me if my approach is somewhat naive and simplistic. However from where I am sat we've given every **** under the sun license to say "City were fined for failing FFP ergo they cheated, they cooked the books".

UEFA know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

ECA know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

The Premier League know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

City know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

You know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

Even I know FFP is fundamentally flawed.

Why the fuck are we accepting this?

We are NOT accepting guilt. Read the statement.
I've read the statement a number of times and there are fine words for sure. However, as I said the "...accepting guilt..." is implicit from our acceptance of the sanctions, irrespective of fine words on a bloody website.

nothing has really been accepted as the rules themselves have not actually been ratified as being legal yet

we have just taken the path of least resistance and if Du Pont wins it all just goes away in the meantime we just carry on as normal

Good point and it did cross my mind but it seems clear it's €60m net spend this summer in total. That's £50m plus any incoming revenue from sales.

The spend figure refers to capital expenditure i.e. the purchase price of player registrations acquired.

But on in the summer. We have dealt a few times with Italian clubs especially with loan deals with an agreement for a permanent transfer at the end of the loan.

Nastasic isn't HG. For UEFA you have to have 8 players who are association trained of whom 4 must be club trained. Richards and Boyata are the only over 21s who are club trained which restricts our current A list to a maximum of 23. The number of players on the B list is unlimited provided they meet the club trained criteria.

The key issue is whether the reduction to 21 retains a minimum of 8 association trained players. If it does it means that 3 of our current 16 foreign trained players would be ineligible for the CL next season . I simply can't believe the club would have agreed to that.
Sorry - you're right about Nastasic. I thought he'd been with us 3 seasons not 2. I can't see the club agreeing to that and, as I said, normally your squad would only be limited to 21 A-listers if you only named 4 HG players.

No it isn't!

We have agreed not to take legal action but threatened to do it if they start messing us about.

Why be so down on the club as to say that ? 'Fine words' ? It's a complete and utter rejection of any wrongdoing NOT an acceptance of guilt.

We clearly say, we have NOT broken the rules, we just don't want to embark on a legal battle, due to the adverse effects it could have. Does anyone think it WOULDN'T have adverse effects ?

Was there a point in time where most City fans became flappers..?

This "punishment" is nothing really.. A one off occasion on the grounds of a technicality for something that happened years ago ffs!

think its the principle of being fined that has most people agitated.

i want city to put uefa in their place but the players want to play champs league and sponsors want to be linked with it.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Anyway £60m buys us Sagna, Fernando, mangala and enough for a £20m signing on top. With Jovetic being like a new signing that's more than enough.

And that's without outgoings.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

major organisations don't release these things on friday night because they want to make a fuss, by sunday they'll hope it's all buried under the La Liga finale, FA Cup final or whatever.

My only disappointment is the 60m net but that's just because I wanted to see us sign some star players to really reinforce our title win and just because we haven't had a "boom" signing for a while, and I just want to be spoiled :p.

We'll said mate , fucking makes my blood boil when someone tells you how to think about this, have your own thoughts and be pissed off if you want
I am , big time

Exactly. If I see one more person trying to twist this as a victory for the club I'm gonna tear my hair out. It's impossible for it to be a victory for the club because the club has been fucking shafted. And by bending over and taking that shafting every journalist, TV pundit, football fan, man on the street is going to think we cooked the books and are cheats. I'm livid the club has not fought this.
We had no choice. It would have been a shattering blow to lose out on the Champions League for fans and players.
