City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Not really. Forbes do a decent yearly report and the newspapers/media like to speculate but in reality too many PL clubs are private companies and don't have to reveal their costs to anyone but HMRC. Try googling Forbes Premier League wage bills though.

thanks alot for the answer aguero :-)

Yeah i'd agree with that. The problem both Liverpool and United have is that whilst they were successful on the pitch they weren't necessarily geared up for the modernisation and globalisation of the game. United were commercially, but in terms of their footballing infrastructure it looks pretty archaic now if you consider Ferguson left a team which had just won the title and had a very good average age.

My personal opinion is that the best run clubs in England have some kind of DoF model and a harmony between board and manager. Swansea and Southampton being two very good examples.

I have to say that the natural harmony is remarkable, as if everyone related to City can see there's a bigger picture they can all contribute to in different ways and benefit from. Seemless organisation from the owner to players to growing fans, inclusive. Of the fan base old and new with our media packages, south stand as the new kippax, nod to history in kits and players from the past past, etc. Of course there's personalities expressed in the organisation but even under last years pressures (on the manager, from Yaya's agents actions, results, desired way of playing not quite ready with the right balance of players, etc, etc) the system of elements that is City is largely settled and cohesive as it grows and moves powerfully forward. Because the model makes sense to everyone. What a model. At the coal-face its noticeable how harmonious the players are in the tunnel with each other, even with other team players & staff. You can see the cohesiveness isn't enforced through exclusion and paranoia and underhand manoeuvres like Chelsea depend on (internally and externally). We are indeed the example to be copied right now. Setting the standards and ruining nothing.

Winning the European Cup 3 years in a row - 73/74, 74/75, 75/76

Not when the English clubs were hoovering up

Liverpool 1977, 1978
Forest 1979, 1980
Liverpool 1981
Villa 1982
Liverpool 1984

Bayern's moment of greatness had passed, which is sort of my point

(Not to mention that they cheated to beat Leeds in 1975 but that's another story)

Footballing generations go in circles.

The Bayern team around Beckenbauer, Meier and Müller started with there relegation into the league in 1965 - all were very young. The spine stayed together over years. Hoeneß and Breitner were added at the start of the 70s. They won the league three times in a row from 72 to 74 - in 74 they won the CL and the players won the World Cup, too. After that they did a lot friendlies etc. for money. In the league they did not perform great anymore - even were 10th in 1976. The European Cup was the only competition they still performed well in. But that team had an end - Breitner left, Beckenbauer left, Hoeneß had his big injury that ended his career, Müller got old and finally left to the USA...

You cannot produce this generations in free will. It took 40 years to get a similar generation of players...

But Bayern since then always was in the top 12 in Europe - yes, with single years in which they failed. Sometimes even better. Since 1074 Bayern was in 10 European Cup finals - 74, 75, 76, 82, 87, 99, 2001, 2010, 2012, 2013

Bloody hell, I didn't know Bayern had been around that long. Pretty shit return if you ask me, only 10 finals since the Battle of Hastings..

This should be required reading for the cretins like Karren Brady, who clearly don't have a fucking clue about FFP or our finances.

Our media team should be printing that article as a glossy and sending it to every journalist, blogger and anyone else who's seen fit to spout a load of nonsense about our spending.

I've been saying that this summer will barely hit the bottom line and maybe even improve it so it's nice to see an acknowledged expert confirm that.

The most interesting part for me was how our wages have fallen to below United's. It proves that top players are more willing to play for us, whilst they have to pay over the odds to attract mediocrity :-)

So do I understand the Swiss Rambler correctly that our transfer activity this summer came more or less without increasing cost accounting-wise? And does this mean we have not even started to spend the money from the increased TV deals?
