City Football Group (CFG) buy into Chinese club Sichuan Jiuniu FC (from Chengdu)

It would have to be one of the Edinburgh clubs… so, going on past form with Melbourne Heart transforming into Melbourne City…

Heart of Midlothian becomes Edinburgh City… but that’s already being used… so maybe just go for the Edinburgh City itself.
So a Scottish team outside of Glasgow. We don't tend to do capital cities, I'd look outside of Edinburgh too. How about Inverness Caley Thistle? They came close to renaming as Inverness City in 2001. Already have Puma kits.

I feel like they are underachieving for who they are, both as a club and as a squad. They should *not* be in a second division relegation scrap. With a bit of CFG knowhow, they'd soon be back in the SPL and battling out with the Old Firm clubs.

In terms of youth development, they would have the entire Highlands region to draw on.

Inverness CT ----> Inverness CiTy

I.like your thinking and as my mate is CEO up there it would be fun

Scotland would be interesting!

IMO because Scotland already has very well developed scouting systems for English clubs and they’re in the same UK market so not attractive to Sponsors, this would be quite a left field destination.

Remember those are the 2 drivers of CFG - opening up sponsorship markets and trying to get an advantage in talent ID.

Korea is a good shout, but I suspect the next one will be in Africa. FIFA is injecting a lot of money into afrcian countries right now, as is China and the Middle East. It’s the only continent they don’t have a club in.

Maybe also Vietnam or Indonesia. Both massively developing economies and big into football.

We do big cities and capital cities also and aim at the most populous areas for a reason. It would be in the Scottish central belt to attract the biggest catchment area.

A grand total of 1 out of our 12 clubs is located in a capital city.

Troyes is a town with just over half the population size of Rochdale. Lommel in turn has half the population size of Troyes. Girona has the same population size as Salford.

Those teams all operate in small communities, but they target a larger catchment area than their hometown. Like I mentioned, there is a large (in Scottish terms) catchment area that Inverness could target as part of CFG. The whole Highlands area is ripe for the picking.

Further to last comment, Inverness' population size is exactly in the middle of Troyes' and Lommel's.

Africa....chaotic,unstable,corrupt,poor.

Several/Multiple country options.

But what a talent pool.

Yaya as continent ambassador ??

Morocco would be a great place to set up shop. It’s got one foot in Europe and the other in Africa, one of the richest countries in Africa, government/monarchy is stable, they have big clubs and crowds (half a dozen PL size) and of course the World Cup is coming up in 2030.

But maybe France and Spain have already got their teeth into all the opportunities there.

I notice the UAE signed massive deals to build a high speed rail line and a huge Atlantic port in Morocco in December though.
