City Football Group | Secure $650m loan facility for infrastructure projects (p 54)

Wow!

Stand corrected on this.

Breaking the figures down.

The City Football Group is now valued at $4.8 bill. £3.7bill.

Sheikh Mansour sold a 13% stake in the CFG to Chinese investors for $400mill 4 years ago.

Sheikh Mansour has now sold a 10% stake of CFG to Silver Lake for $500mill.

Sheikh Mansour still owns 77% of CFG.

When Sheikh Mansour bought Manchester City Football Club, 9 years ago, it was bankrupt.

City Football Group didn’t exit.

The boy done great.

That's a misunderstanding on your part mate.

I'm suggesting longer term. I appreciate they are putting the money in as direct investment. But given the business model of PE firms they will be looking at a return once they have made their investment. I'm also referring to the fact this is some sort of off the field capital expenditure that i very much doubt will have any impact on MCFC as a football club.

I appreciate money is going in and it appears that it is going to go into some kind of tech spend as its a tech specialist that has made the investment. But what I have no clue? If it was a streaming / pay per view operation then you would buy one not build one? Could the word infrastructure suggest a stadium? Well they have been looking for a site in New York for years, i'm not sure, is it enough to build a stadium there. But those funds are not the limit of what could go into that kind of project and if you gear up on that at 2:1 then you are talking the kind of money that could build a world class venue in NYC. What would a tech firm do with that as an investment, I don't know.

I have read with interest what it might be going on and I have no clue. Lets see how it goes!

I don't know how I feel about our rise in prestige power and worth, enjoyed us more when it was just pies and unpredictable results and we all sang from the same proverbial hymn sheet. Money corrupts and we're walking into a wall we are all making.

The money they would “take out” would be their capital and growth on a sale of their equity holding mate.

City at present do not pay dividends and they reinvest to grow the Group. At a 10% holding, they can’t force through a push for dividends now would the dividend value be even worthwhile. The fund is a growth fund rather than an income fund so investors aren’t looking at the yearly yield and primary look for medium to long term capital growth.
