City home kit consultation (Update - Results on Page 10)

Using your logic on the new badge then is it fair to say you never took to the previous badge either?

The stars, the Latin, the eagle etc. The fact that it popped up out of nowhere...

And if you don't like the new badge, did you not like the previous two round ones either as it's basically just a modern version? So you've never liked any City badge?

As for saying the consultation was bollocks. At the end of the day, the elements on the badge were what got the most votes. That's it.

QPR also only brought in another new badge because the last new one was absolutely detested.
QPR gave fans a choice of designs.

I don't dislike the new badge because it's 'change', I dislike it because I don't like how it looks and is designed; the jutting out shield, the red on blue etc. Not the aspects themselves.

With the emphasis on history and choosing the elements with that in mind, that's great. Just don't have the shield as the most prominent feature, goes against that. Just have it inside the inner circle, not hard.

Soriano could sort it tomorrow if he wanted to. He just doesn't give a monkeys unless you're a Beijing Blue.
I mean, nike are pretty good with contracts. The seldom leave gaps or holes. I doubt he could sort it out tomorrow without massive financial loss and voided relationship. It's NOT that easy, as much as we would like it to be. At the time we signed, we needed more revenue, and Nike knew that, I imagine they did their due diligence to make sure they were getting the sweet end of the deal. The whole template they used in our kit is the same they have been using with everyone, same color shorts as shirt. They most likely don't want to break that "branding" for us. And probably told city they wouldn't. Hey, I am with you, I don't like it, but until we negotiate a new contract, it just seems that Nike have more power right now in the relationship.

other teams have had the same colour sleeves, the right colour trim etc.

I strongly disagree on the badge consultation. Did you attend any of the badge lectures and air your views, ask the questions, give your comments? Did you attend the badge consultation space at the stadium and speak with staff, fill in the questionnaires etc. did you fill in the online questionnaire and give views on the elements that mattered most to you? I could go on but the point is that the discussions, questionnaires, lectures, and other activities did lead to the badge being designed based directly on fans views. City get things wrong, but on the badge consultation no one can say it never happened.

The proposal was 'do we keep the badge or change it, and if we change it what elements matter most to you?'

There was no actual design or proposal available to comment on, therefore it was just a survey. A consultation would have had a rough draft that after comments could be refined, altered, left the same or completely scrapped and back to the drawing board depending on the merits of the comments. Unless the survey results were published it is hard to know to what extent they influenced the badge, if at all. I'm not saying the club didn't do a lot of PR stuff regarding the badge, I think it was brilliant from a marketing point of view, but to consult you need a tangible proposal. It certainly wasn't a vote on do we keep the current badge or not, it was clear it was going.

I've come around to the kit. The thing is, it's a nice looking kit.

My issue with it is I don't think City when I look at it. That's a big problem.

Again, I wonder why Nike doesn't feck with United's home kit set up. It's always the same. That's what we need to come back to.

Right but those teams like Brazil are so established in a color scheme, that no way they would change that. But when you think of France, they are blue tops, white bottoms, red socks, but Nike is forcing them to wear blue shorts this Euro. If you were to poll most football fans, that isn't what we recognize as a traditional France kit. I am just trying to comment on their ability to force larger brands to wear non-traditional outfits. To you, to me, yes, we believe it should be sky blue kit, white shorts, and blue/navy/white socks (I am not too arsed on sock color). However, if they can force even France to wear same color shorts, they can definitely force us to if we didn't do our due diligence during contract negotiations with them.

The badge is great

The kit is nicer than all bar one of the ones Umbro did

Grown men being arsed what colour shorts some millionaires run around in twice a week for 8 months

Well teams like Atleti and PSG managed to get what they want, so I don't see why we can't. Don't care if other teams are pussies and caved in, we shouldn't.

Exactly!!!

Also, I don't think France have been 'forced' to do anything - I just don't think they had the balls Brazil did, to say "no fucking way!" As i've said before, there is absolutely no way they would have forced this template on the Rags ...they like Brazil have an established colour scheme for one reason... they don't let kit manufacturers fuck about with it – which is the entire point we are trying to get across!
Our kit is established as sky blue shirts and white shorts (yes we have had sky blue in the past - but it's a tiny percentage of the time we've existed) – that is what it should always be without question, regardless of what Nike want!
