City home kit consultation (Update - Results on Page 10)

I agree about the socks bit they are not that important (imo that is where they can mix it up a little from one year to another (as long as otherwise it's ).

but instead of only focusing on the white shorts,
this is what we should focus on. Sky blue and white. (and no fucking different coloured sleeves)

I too believe the shirts should be sky blue and white and prefer that . . . but I think that our sponsor and club believe the Etihad name shows up better in navy or black than in white (and I assume a rash of optometrists have confirmed this) and you have to allow the designers a bit of leeway on the trim or else they might come up with that god-awful tartan thing the rags had a few years back . . . so I'm willing to cut them a little slack. That said, the sleeves are overboard IMO, so they've been cut too much slack for the upcoming season.

Good idea - can I just point out 1 slight flaw...
The club don't give a shit what we think.
If they did, they would have asked us in the first place.

Would they? How would they ask? E-mail every City fan in the world?
Dear Manchester City Supporter,
What colour would you like our home strip to be next season?

Maybe they assume that the highly paid designers, at one of the world's largest sports brands might be able to get the colours right!
However, as it looks like they haven't, maybe fans mentioning they're not happy with our colours being messed about with might make difference! Worked at Cardiff.

Not even the slightest chance the kit will be changed now, too close to the release. We could however force a mid season survey for next seasons maybe!

completed. i think if we still had someone like Umbro then maybe the club and Umbro may listen but whilst we have the Nike shite, we have to abide by their templates so we are stuck

I've added my voice to the light blue shirt, white shorts, light blue socks campaign. I don't care what the fans look like in the new kit, but I do care whether the players look like it's Manchester city they're playing for in it. If this new effort is genuine, then the club need to reconsider.

Yes, the socks are important. That other lot decided on black socks with a red turnover and that's what makes their kit unique compared with other teams wearing red and white.

Having navy socks, or navy with a sky turnover makes a sky blue and white kit uniquely Manchester city and nobody else, and did for a large part of our history (as long as the all navy socks were actually navy and not black).

My choice is navy with sky blue turnover as it goes better with the shirt.

On the outset you'd think they don't but many people complained about the badge for many years (I did, I emailed the club about not liking the eagle badge - as well as talking about other things). I must have been just one of many as the club have listened and the badge has been changed.

In 122 years as Manchester City Football Club, we've had sky blue shirts for 116 of those years (laser blue for 6 years), white shorts for 109 of those years (sky blue for 13 years) and navy socks for 67 of those years (sky blue for 44 years).

I don't want different coloured sleeves, just sky blue and there can be white or navy trim. I don't want sky blue shorts, just white and there can be sky or navy trim. Socks I care a bit less about and don't mind if they change colour each season but I certainly want navy socks every few years as it's, by far, our most common and traditional sock colour.

If not every season, every few seasons, I think this should be our core kit combo. We can change to sky blue socks, sky and white hoop socks, sky with maroon turnover socks...but sky blue shirts, white shorts, navy socks is Manchester City.

Next season we are not going to look like Manchester City Football Club. We are going to look like Coventry City with a bit of Arsenal (different colour sleeves) and Chelsea (white socks with a blue kit) thrown in. But not Manchester City FC.

Would United fans put up with trotting out in a kit with black sleeves and red shorts and white socks instead of their red-white-black? Absolutely not!

I actually think the colour of a team's home kit shows their identity more than the club's badge.
