City in Crisis Talks as “Sultanagate” Overshadows Messi Bid

Re: City in Crisis Talks as “Sultanagate” Overshadows Messi Bid

It all started to go downhill when they did away with those little trollies in the Kippax car park that sold those strange, pink, steamed "burgers" made out of unidentifiable (but probably tabby cat) meat. Add some soft, slightly warm, boiled onions and stick the whole concoction into a slightly damp stale bun, and you captured the taste of football as it should be. I often reminisce about those slimey and tasteless delicacies, and imagine that they were the original Football Pink, and not the newspaper of that name - in fact, I sometimes speculate that the paper was named after those little round pink patties.

It all started to go wrong when we started to allow those big moneybags vans where they fried the burgers and onions and had ready availability of red and brown sauce - you can buy bacon cheeseburgers now - it's wrong, I tell you, wrong! And now, the last bastion of a good footie feed, the pie, looks like it's about to fall into the abyss. If you really want to know when and where we sold our soul, look no further, it was in the demise of the boiled tabby burger - the start of that long, slippery slope to sultanas in the pies.`

Oh, for the old days, we just don't know what we've lost.

"sultanas" eh?
You sure its not the miniature friends in Holland's factories working overtime?

Manchester City moved today to reassure supporters over the standard of catering at the City of Manchester Stadium. City supporters vented their fury at the flavour of the Chicken Balti pie supplied by new contractors Hollands Pies. Boos were heard from the stands and websites were in meltdown as it was revealed that this pie contained sultanas in addition to the traditional contents of chicken and balti matter. Fans Spokesman Dave Wallace called for the resignation of Mark Hughes;. “Fruit at the football? They’ll be asking us to wear pink dresses and handbags next” he fumed. 19 stone Wallace sampled all the pies on offer and stated “The others were fine, to be honest, but that’s not the point. At least two thirds of City fans choose chicken balti to go with their pints. Sultanas? This abomination is practically a dessert. If I wanted a fruit pie I'd have a Mr Kipling”

Should that not be self elected fans spokesman

From next season, 6 out of every 11 sultanas in those pies have to be home grown. I hear the car parks at Eastlands are being replaced by vineyards. It's all going to shit, it really is.

which will, I am assured be turned into organic fertiliser. This will be packaged and available from the City shop, reduced prices for seasoncard holders. Free for those who are going to fill in the swamp with it.

I guess that because I'm from the Midlands I must be one of the few to think Hollands Pies are crap! I was brought up on Pukka Pies (supprised Jamie Oliver doesn't endorse those) and I love em. Whenever I go home to see my folks I always make sure I get a Pukka Pie, a Savaloy, and a Cod Roe because they're so hard to come by up here. As are Battered Sausages but I've found a great chippy up here that serves them at least ;)
