If I was being overly analytical, I could pick holes in each paragraph. From the horrible grammar in the first paragraph ("– measures City have expended considerable resources trying to explain why their fellow clubs should reject"), to missing the point on why City wrote the recent letter in the second paragraph, to not understanding in paragraph three that City's strategy is wholly consistent with their view that the current rules are null and void, and will be, irrespective of Friday's vote, until the tribunal makes their decision, and so on.

It's a poor piece of journalism from a reporter who is obviously so far out of his comfort zone. The only question is whether he is stupid enough to proudly demonstrate his lack of expertise in this area, or unprofessional enough to write only what he is told to write. Tough one to answer that. Maybe the answer is both .....

I read the archived version so no comments. Not giving them a single pound of my hard earned money. The tossers.

But let me make a prediction. Comments from City and Newcastle fans will be negative about the "article". Comments from Arsenal, United, Liverpool and Spurs fans will be positive. For the rest it will be divided up between those fans who are informed enough to see what is going on, who will be negative, and those who just regurgitate whatever bollocks they have been fed, who will be positive.

While I’m not defending the Geordies here and the attendance was indeed 10,004, it wasn’t the last home game before Keegan took over as manager. It wasn’t even the same season. Oxford game was April 1991 and I think it was a rearranged midweek game after the first match got called off due to heavy rain. Keegan became Newcastle manager in February 1992. IIRC their last home game before his appointment drew a crowd of around 16,000*. For his first game, another 14,000 or so Newcastle fans suddenly remembered where St James’ Park was!

*Edit: Just checked and last home game pre-Keegan was against Charlton. Attendance was 15,663. Interestingly, after the capacity crowd against Bristol City for his first game in charge, attendances started to drop off again - aside from the derby v Sunderland - as they struggled to pull away from the relegation zone. One game towards the back end of the season drew a crowd of just over 21,000. They lost 5 games on the bounce to leave them in deep shit, but won the last 2 and survived on the last day of the season.

Haven't read Wallace article so how does he explain that it is right to break the rules of the country ?
Does he explain how he thinks it right that pl ignore the laws of this country ?

Odd isn't that the press/media what City hung drawn and quarter for 'breaking' the pl rules. Yet these same people are happy for the pl to operate outside of UK law.

I don’t read the telegraph but by all accounts he’s only doing what the front pages are doing & telling the police & the courts to ignore the laws.

It seems English law doesn’t matter if the aggrieved is a darker shade than the perpetrators.
