City launch MLS Franchise

One wonders if the prospect of playing/operating in a relegation-less league will attractive massive investment over the next 5-10 years.

The US pipeline of youth development is growing steadily but surely. Ratings for foreign matches are at an all time high. I wonder... What's going to happen next.

The herd instinct have already started with both foreign and domestic billionaires moving in, some of them with established teams in the American sports landscape already in leagues like NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB
As for if it will work with MLS still being an immature league is hard to say yet but there´s a lot of interest from investors, the attendances are looking increasingly healthy but TV-ratings are a big concern. The popularity of say Champions league or Prem league games have not translated to interest in watching MLS teams on telly.

that's all down to the quality of players though imo, the audience for those games is directly influenced by household names, so someone with deep enough pockets wouldn't be put off, the popularity of cl an pl just shows them that the markets there.

Ah, but the parity rules are a hindrance there. You are only allowed three players to have "unlimited wages" sort of..the rest of the team will be on $50 a week and a bag of crisps :D

They'll be potato chips as well :D poor sods

Not sure if it is still the case, but the MLS has a higher average attendance than the Championship, Which is a decent level of support. Seattle Sounders average a 40 odd thousand crowd, granted its double every other team. There is certainly a decent market and potential to grow.

The guy that posted the "10 Possible Locations" article posted an addendum article: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.empireofsoccer.com/a-nycfc-stadium-in-the-bronx-will-it-work/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.empireofsoccer.com/a-nycfc-s ... l-it-work/</a>

Hope that works. Being as far away from the stench of the Mets as possible is always the preferable option.
