City let us down on Saturday

The whole episode has been a fiasco, the season could have been saved by winning the cup, it would have meant so much to the fans, instead we enter into the biggest game of the season in turmoil, and put up a performance that was a shambles, i know a few hundred quid is chicken feed to people within football, but to fans it takes a hell of a lot of finding, and that saturday was diabolical.

I have no idea who is to blame, and i dont know the politics, but i do know winning the cup would have been magical, something that seems to have been lost within the confines of manchester city.

all this crap should have been sorted in the summer, we as fans buy into the dream, and saturday was a nightmare.

I always think there's very fine margins between City's great wins and our flops. We rarely play brilliantly from the first minute. In our great wins we score late in the first half and then cruise to victory in the second. In our flops the goal doesn't come and we become more and more disjointed.

Even after our best wins I haven't usually thought that we won due to a great effort, usually its because we've scored good goals, out passed and out played the opposition.

If one of Aguero's or Tevez's chances had gone in we'd have probably strolled to a 3-0 win and nobody would have complained about lack of effort.

Can i say,
I Sensed an Atmosphere of Failure impending Sat from our first kick,Really dont know what went on like any one else. The team looked as though they felt just had to turn up and win.Over Confidence? maybe not-Politics re RM Poss Sacking maybe? What really got me though was the way we were dictated to by a team fighting for its life And with a make shift back 4! As i also said to my folks/Wife-on the phone,i can take defeat but when they dont appear to be trying thats what gets my back up.The players will pick up their Wages/Bonuses etc,and we will pick up our Credit Card Bills for that Debacle!

Let us down? I think not. Can't help feeling a lot of us actually quite enjoyed being reacquainted with good old fashioned City ineptitude. That's what made us the funniest, most mordant and stubbornly-loyal fans in the world. Any bugger can support a team that wins. The splenetic moaning as we approached Wembley Central was world-class and pretty cathartic.

I now live in the South but encouraged/forced my sons into being City fans (my ex-wife used to say this was tantamount to child abuse). Took my eldest on Saturday and he was beyond devastated. Today he's gone to school dreading the reaction of all the Essex Reds... But, you know, it will be good for him. Unless he gets his head kicked in.

Why is everyone repeating this bullshit that Wigan were brilliant and we were shit?

We've played a lot better but if the performances of the two teams was reversed, everyone would be saying we were lucky as fuck and Wigan unlucky. So the same can't be true in reverse.

Wigan had one shot on target in the whole game. It went in so fair play to them. I've no complaints about the result. Just a bit bored of reading how they totally outplayed us when they quite clearly didn't.

I can handle losing, but to lose like we did yesterday in an FA cup final was horrible. You would think that we had been in 70 cup finals in the last ten years the amount of fucks they gived

Gutted cost me a fucking fortune to get me & my son over to wembley not only that the long hours of travel there and even worse on the way home but I can deal with that but the hardest part was havin to consol my 6 year old when Wigan scored he knew it was over and was devastated ,me like many other blues have been through the ups & downs of following city & would've thought them days was over but maybe it's no harm in all the new/young blues feeling the lows now & again like we have , sayin that that was possible the lowest point for me following city not the losing as much but seeing the little fella inconsolable over city losing .....CTWD

Were you and your lad sheltering near the turnstiles from the rain after the game?

I was and saw a bloke consoling his son (dark blue anorak?) who was in tears. All the old heads nearby-me included- were feeling just the same.
It was a poignant moment that will be with me forever.

No mate wasn't me but I was doing the same thing in the stadium with him you feel twice the pain :(

Talking rubbish mate ! Them same players won us the league a year ago today. we are entitled to an off day, jesus the over reaction is crazy...

An off day was the last thing that was, a complete lack of any pride or commitment from players who are so much better is not an off day, as you say they won the title, but not standing about waiting for others to do the graft.

When I say the most appalling display in over fifty years I mean every word, yes we have had some stinkers over the years, but with virtually a world class player in every position on the pitch and in an FA cup final that goes beyond anything even some of the piss poor teams we have put up with ever served up, they at least had the excuse of being shit.

They should be playing for the club, themselves, their families. their own self pride and us the fans not just fucking Roberto Mancini.

I hope they had a good look around the stadium at full time and saw three quarters of the ground weren't celebrating and felt fucking embarassed by their performance and that they had let so many supporters down, but somehow I doubt it.

Absolutely spot on! Too often attention is taken off the players who fail to perform. On the day the majority of them did not perform even close to their ability.
