City named “most innovative team in global sports”

‘Sportswashing’? Wtf? Very weird, sniff sniff paragraph for a blue to write or have you just been taken in by Delooney and the WhatsApp gimps?

oh fuck off

look at my posting history. I am no rag. Delaney is a self serving delussional arsehole and i dont use whatsapp

there is a chance that what, in the future, our owners (sheik mansour and the chinese) are going to use their ownership to put a PR gloss on some of their less than salubrious human rights. There is no evidence of this now but they might do this in the future. I personally dont think its going to happen, but surprisingly I havent got a crystal ball or accurate tarot cards, so when discussing the future I think I have to include it.
If anyone claims our owners are sportswashing now i would laugh at them and argue them off the board.

They’ve more than doubled their money and no doubt had a lot of fun along the way, despite the best efforts of our enemies and vested interests.
Quite why you buy into a bizarre concept and a word invented by those very same enemies is beyond me, but you crack on

In my view so-called "sportswashing" is a false narrative created by some (racist) elements in the media. The motivation of CFG is nothing more than to make long-term profits and so far it has been a very effective business model. All businesses in every Gulf state are in a race to diversify away from fossil fuels..even the Saudis are now trying to promote tourism.
There is no such thing as sportswashing and there is no evidence that owning a football club has improved the reputation of Sheikh Mansour, quite the opposite in fact.
He has invested hugely in sports and leisure (amongst other sectors) across the globe and his motivation is to make money...just like the rest of the commercial world. It's depressing to think that even some of our own fans have been taken in by the media smear campaign against us.

Agree 100% with that. Even those who invented and giddily throw the term around have an ever-shifting and often contrary, ideologically dishonest definition of exactly what it is

The question which always stumps the people who repeat this narrative is: "What evidence do you have for sportswashing?" It is absurd to suggest that serious business operators like Sheikh Mansour would sit in a room and say to himself: "I think I will invest billions of pounds across the globe just to improve the reputation of my country of origin"
Abu Dhabi itself does not even feature in the worst 100 states in the world for human rights abuse. The last time I checked the top ten places for alleged abuses included Russia, China and the USA (the usual suspects)
Every business in the world markets its product and tries to enhance its reputation. There are sound reasons for doing this which are nothing to do with human rights. Do you think Chinese businesses only sell electrical goods because they are worried what people think about their country's persecution of minorities?
