Rooney, Owen, Zidane, Pele, Anelka, Zico, Fat Ronaldo, Shearer, Fowler, Maradonna, Messi to name but a few, all doing it by now. I agree whole heartedly with the hope he does well but I am yet to be convinced that this "potential" will be fulfilled and £40K per week for me is a big ask. what should Weiss and Redshaw be asking for on a "potential" basis. Joe Hart is commonly acknowledged as a probable future england keeper, has played more and contributed more than Studge and plays in an equally vital position, is he on £40k per week ?

i think sturridge has actually been a bit unlucky to get so much flack. if the club had sorted it out last year he would surely be on 25k a week.

he would be in demand if he left, so there is no way his advisors are gonna let him sign for that now. ok, they want their slice of the pie too, but they can reasonably point out to him that many footballers' first big contract turns out to be their last if they get a bad injury.
