Seems to me that both sites are about the same size. Now if we're going to move the training ground, it would make sense to go to a bigger site, rather than one of the same size, especially if we're going to move the Academy there.
It also makes sense to move the Academy out of Moss Side. It makes sense to move it near the stadium or the first team training ground.
I can't see the Arabs being stupid enough to build housing. As has already been mentioned, the Manchester property market is already saturated with empty apartments. These are Arabs at the end of the day, why do something that 100 other companies have done?
I think the Arabs are interested in Manchester as a city, not just because of our football club. They bought the club as a way of getting into the city. I don't think they're going to drop us, because if you want to develop and invest in a city, you don't p!ss off half the population by leaving the club in the shit!
They'll make our club into a world-class club, bring the big players in, and in turn you create Manchester as a destination. Maybe that's why they never bought the Rags, unfortunately they're 'there', whereas with a bit of development we can surpass the Rags. So in 10 years time you have a city boasting two of the best clubs in the world, and with that comes status like Milan and that's when you get tourists, investment, development and long-term wealth which is what the Arabs are interested in.
In simple terms, their source of wealth will run out in 50 years so they need to secure their future for when the oil runs out. Hedging some wealth in a city isn't bad business is it?
