Sheffield Wednesday, last match of the season around 1970, at Hillsborough. Ian Bowyer got both goals, Mike Doyle missed a penalty.

We tried to throw this game to keep Wednesday up and there was a bit of controversy

I remember us relegating Sunderland back in the early 90's. They were a really great bunch of lads and remember them climbing over into the kippax and some of our lads jumping over into theirs. Also remember this when they were cheering when the rags failed at that last hurdle after the Augero moment.

Good old Dennis Law.

He didn't relegate them.

Check the facts,

We have never relegated the swamp dwellers.
Beat me to it. Wouldn't they have gone down that day anyway, due to results elsewhere?

There is no Santa Claus as well.
And that tooth fairy your mum and dad told you about? Pfft.

Birmingham and West Ham managed to get themselves out of trouble on their last day of the season and as these games finished and ours was abandoned due to their scummy supporters running on the pitch it is generally given that the other results came in first so ours was irrelevant. Our result was allowed to stand so it's the same the other way round too, by city winning the match Birmingham and West Ham could have stuffed up and the rags' last game against Stoke wouldn't have mattered either.

Correct.

But it doesn't half wind up rags to claim we did!

It was hilariously funny being there on the day. Trying to keep a straight face on the bus home surrounded by dumbstruck rags was bloody difficult!
