City removing seats

All I understand is that the Sheikh put in a lot of money, the amounts you are all talking about sound rather like Monopoly money to me...However, the Sheikh appears to love our football club and for that he gets my total admiration and loyalty.

As for me...I just love Manchester City and couldn't care less about the money (not the money we as fans are forking out the other 'Monopoly' money) as long as I can watch the sheer master classes that our team(s) turn out match after match after match. Thank you City players, thank you City coaches and back room staff, thank you City admin and ticket office staff, thank you Sheikh Mansour and all the board. But my main thanks go to you folks, the supporters without whom this club would be just another Swindon or Accrington Stanley or even Burnley. We are City and we have the best team in the land in all the world.

The Boys in Blue never give in they fight to the end....and they do that for the fans in Blue.

Sorry, in a sentimental mood this afternoon, just put the Christmas decorations up and wrapped some presents for the Great-grandkids!! :-) I'll get back in the corner now.

Stay safe, take care everyone.

True but as a business we are still not very profitable compared to other business and relative to our revenues so I don’t begrudge the owner making a bit more money out of advertising especially when you consider the on going investment in CFG, assets, capital and the early investment in city and all losses that generated
We effectively break even but that's because we spend big money on the squad, leading to higher amortisation, therefore higher operating expenses and lower profit.

And to get back to the point of the thread, I doubt we're getting more money for advertising but it's more likely that we're simply replacing the existing signage with newer kit, which meets UEFA requirements. Because, as I've already said, we have to put different signage in on CL nights and I believe we have to hire that kit, paying for it out of our own pocket.

But it might be something to do with anticipated demand for advertising and commercial sponsorship if a certain Argentinian joins us.

No, you still don’t understand amortisation.

You posted before suggesting we can’t spend £100m on a striker as we only make a “modest” profit, which ignores the fact that a £100m striker on a 5 year contract “only” costs £20m per year (netting the wages off as Aguero is already on a huge contract). Given KDB and Sterling recently (and soon again for KDB) extended their contracts, their annual amortisation between them has saved us nearly that £20m on an annual basis. And every sale is booked in full in the financial year they are sold.

As PB has said, we’re also cash rich.

Can you please not miss quote me or try and suggest that I have said things I have not or say that I have suggested things I have not it’s disrespectful disingenuous and not helpful for the debate

I simply said we have to make actual profit rather than accounting profit We cannot be selling players at a loss and buying expensive players to replace them and using amortization to make up for it because then the Sheik does not actually make any actual money besides sooner or later it can all catch up with us a bad year on or off the pitch and we are back to loosing money

I didn’t misquote you and you still don’t understand amortisation, football finances nor investments. It was only a few pages back that you incorrectly suggested that “most investors want income as well as capital growth” which couldn’t be further from the truth.

So rather than carry on a circular argument, I’ll just move on.

If your going to insists that I have suggested something I have not then how about trying quote me or at least explain how I have suggested something which I am strongly denying how can you claim to know my own thoughts and meaning better than me ?

If you look at my post history you will see that I have regularly posted on the FFP and other similar issues and have read PB and others comments about amortization etc etc

And as for the comment on what investors want why do you think virtually all investments provide both ? Be it bonds property stocks and shares ? Also you have to put it in perspective the Sheik has invested a huge amount and so needs a bigger return to make it worth while

So when we remove these 1000+ seats, the Etihad will go from the 5th to the 6th largest football club stadium (overtaken by Anfield)?

the simple rule and correct me if am wrong if city fans are losing 1000 plus seats then the away allocation should be reduced by the same about

for me the bottom levels of the stadium should be for all city fans and newcastle and united do it and others also have fans at the top levels out of the way ? so give the city fans the bottom level of the away fans take up
