City reportedly pushing for Girona to play Barca in Miami

I hope La Liga and Barcelona tell everyone at Girona to go fcuk themselves.

There was an element of tongue in cheek in what I said my man. It's never gonna happen.

I don't see it any time soon due to the Premier League's 14 club voting system. That said, I expect City will be at the forefront of any commercial "innovation" so I'm sure we'll be among the first English clubs to do this. Long term I can imagine football competitions being played out across the world like the LTA or PGA tours.

This is from the LinkedIn profile of CFG's CMO:

I’m supporting a first-of-its-kind business model of housing multiple clubs under a single umbrella. This innovative approach enables us to share expertise, best practices, and resources and to build revenue-generating engines spanning the globe.

With the goal of delivering both shareholder value and fan growth, we are focusing our efforts on the next generation of fans and exploring ideas for obtaining greater value from our fans, while delighting them with ever-greater experiences, content and products.

Of course they won’t be against it but to say city are pushing for it is wrong for me.
It is very unpalatable but you look at it purely from a business sense, you would be delighted with this..........

Maybe not publicly but they would have given their support to this

Think La Liga and Barcelona are all behind it, Girona have just put their hands up to give it go. It was always intended to be used for a smaller teams home game against one of the bigger teams.

I fear this will happen at City within the next 5 years...would the true fans protest, boycott?

Can picture Etihad or Thomas Cook flying 3k fans to Abu Dubai (ballot) for free and most accepting it :/.

The NFL have started doing it with American Football in London for commercial reasons so i say the CFG are testing the waters with Girona. Spanish football is full of corruption and backhanders.

La Liga are doing this because they are falling behind the Premier League and are looking at using this as a way of pushing the brand to catch up with the Premier League. Not saying Pl wouldn't look at it but there isn't the same urgency the Spanish, French and Italian leagues feel under to compete with our league.

Our owners are great but from their perspective they want to grow the brand and bring in new fans. No better way than doing that than having competitive games in other countries.

For us local fans it’s sacrilege but it’s probably inevitable.

I think it pertinent to remind posters that CFG do not actually own Girona. They have a stake but, if I remember correctly, it is not actually a controlling stake.
