City reportedly pushing for Girona to play Barca in Miami

Dreadful idea. I hope Girona's supporters (more likely the Barca players) can put a stop to it.

Our owners have done magnificent things for the club but I've never seen anything from Soriano that doesn't reinforce my sense that he regards City's supporters as a nuisance and a hindrance. In broader terms it's clear that he and City's execs are not particularly interested in the history and traditions of City or English football in general.

As with the rest of the CFG clubs, i couldn't give a flying fuck to be honest.

Girona and City are two vvery different kettles of fish.

This is a La Liga initiative, nothing to do with Girona apart from they have put their hands up to try it. It was going ahead regardless of CFG, Girona or anything to do with Soriano

Come on, as if City would be against this!
I'll be surprised if Ferran Soriano hasn't offered to fly the fucking plane himself.

I think that would be rather foolish as he is not a trained pilot. I am reliably informed (by some on here) that it takes many years of dedication, study and damned hard work to become a pilot.

Yes I know, I laughed as I typed it.

Why would they be? They have a job, which is to grow what was a nouveau riche 1 time league winner supported by a sheikh into a superclub which can go head to head with United, Real, Bayern & Barca on all fronts for decades.

Girona were a pretty much a "nothing" club, if one exists. Never been in the top division, never played a league game against Barcelona, hadn't played a competitive game against them for about 50 years, never played Madrid at home.

Does anyone actually think that missing 1 home game every 5 or 6 years will make their fans feel ill towards CFG? "Oh sure we've got permanent status in the top division and will play Real and Barca at home 9 times at home in the next 5 years - but it should have been 10! CFG OUT!!

They probably aren't thrilled, but their clubs getting a shit load of money, exposure, they're getting 20-40% of their season ticket back, and it's the price they're paying for the most successful period in their history, delivered to them by CFG.

Wasn't this idea of playing some Premier League games in the USA raised a couple of season's back if my memory servers me right. However it only was put out as an idea, and nothing more was said about it.

Fair enough, but if the CFG weren't full square behind it then I doubt Girona would be in the vanguard of playing games in the states.

It was even more stupid.
It was suggested an extra league game, a 39th would be played abroad by all clubs.
Now how the feck they would decide who played who I don’t know but the whole idea got short shrift.
