The only time I have ever had any problem with a steward was Hamburg last year. These two blokes started getting very aggressive to a man and his missus. They were threatening him and it looked certain to come to blows. There was a steward stood at the top of the steps fairly nearby watching. But he did nothing. Eventually some other stewards came down but this one bloke did fuck all. I wasn't impressed. I can't be certain but I don't think he was Showsec.

To be honest I don't think I've ever had to even talk to a steward. I suppose that means they are doing a good job.

Just to clarify this mate, a steward is instructed NEVER to attend an incident on his/her own, simply because if he needs his story backing up afterwards it can be awkward with one mans word against another, except fans usually back each other. They usually instruct firstly a supervisor who will get the cameras on the incident and a response team sent in, we dont get paid enough to be assaulted heroes. You will find ladies are usually posted on aisles which have potential for more heated incidents, this is obviously because males are LESS likely to threaten a woman steward and look stupid in front of their mates. Check out who stewards on aisles 110/111 are.

Blue 1969 if a steward comes over arsey remember they are usually just doing their job and are often being watched and monitored by many cameras in the ground.
Impolite and arsey for no good reason. ie jobs worths.

NO steward should ever come across as arsey, we are trained not to be, if you have a problem with any particular one, get their coat number and report them.

Fair enough if the man was just doing his job. There were people looking at him and pleading with him to come and deal with it because it was getting out of hand and he didn't even say anything in response, just stared blankly ahead. It took a while before any steward/supervisor came over. I'm not trained or experienced in crowd management so maybe his response was the appropriate one. In the end I don't think any punches were thrown so they probably did get it right.

It isnt always the obvious response but does work the majority of times, how many times have you heard of people getting involved on nights out trying to intervene and calm things down, only for the aggressors to turn on them.

Trigger, can I ask the most obvious question but how in God's name do your refrain from jumping all over the shop when we score or do you just join in?!

Glad I didn't disappoint ;) I was waiting for the lovely fans in aisles 106/107 to tell everyone how great I am but they obviously aren't on the forum tonight ;)

Best Steward Ever. Sends me to the bookies before every game, normally betting against the blues!!!!

Ask the guys in 106/107 I usually have the biggest smile, and at the recent semi did forget myself, but got away with it.
