City support at Old Trafford.

Cup games aside what games from the past did we really take a huge following across to the unwashed? Obviously since it became all ticket things have changed. Talking of Cup games a few tell me there was a big rag following in the open Scoreboard End at Maine Road for the League Cup Semi in 1970. Anyone any thoughts and reflections on past games with our *spits Neighbours?

Lol - that brings back a few memories. The rags were given the whole of the Scoreboard End for that Cup tie, I went in there with some rag schoolmates who had a spare ticket. I was jumping up when Bell scored at that end, I can see myself on the TV footage, didn't get any hassle though just a few dirty looks.

When the Scoreboard End at the Swamp was an open terrace we'd usually take 10,000+ to league derbies - which were often pay at the gate for the terraces - but once they built the stand at that end most derbies became all ticket for the paddocks as well as the seats and that inevitably reduced the allocation for league games to 8 or 9,000.

there was a load of us in the old trafford paddock one wednesday night game, we had blue balloons and the police had to surround us and kept us in after the game with the rest of city fans. was funny the main support at one end as us at the other.was the bit next to the stretford end .

foolishly in my late teens i was in the stretford end seats and stood up singing city songs !! was funny seeing everyone with steam coming out of their ears , and no f*cker did anything !!!

was that when we drew 1-1 and they had a player sent off, i was sat with my mates who are blues at the side of the ground, we sat down and a hand came on my shoulder and said what are you doing in the utd end steve, trust me to be sat near a utd fan from doncaster. anyway he kept quite and just tried to wind me up.

We took shedloads to the Irwin testimonial

Took about 7,000 or more to Mike Duxbury's testimonial too in a crowd of roughly 18k and we beat the fuckers 2-0 in a warm up for the 5-1 a few months later!

Me and my mate used to go in the Stretford end with a few Rag mates, I seem to remember that there were always loads of City fans dispersed around the ground as I guess there will be in a few weeks

city regularly took over the scoreboard end at the swamp in the sixties and I was there in the Stretford paddock when Law scored THAT goal me and my mate jumped up and got chased by a load of neanderthol rag fans

Irony eh?

Was in Stretford paddock when brightwell scored a screamer. Hundreds of us behind baconface. We were segregated off and sang for 90 mins. Good days.
