Talking of Cup games a few tell me there was a big rag following in the open Scoreboard End at Maine Road for the League Cup Semi in 1970. Anyone any thoughts and reflections on past games with our *spits Neighbours?
Lol - that brings back a few memories. The rags were given the whole of the Scoreboard End for that Cup tie, I went in there with some rag schoolmates who had a spare ticket. I was jumping up when Bell scored at that end, I can see myself on the TV footage, didn't get any hassle though just a few dirty looks.
When the Scoreboard End at the Swamp was an open terrace we'd usually take 10,000+ to league derbies - which were often pay at the gate for the terraces - but once they built the stand at that end most derbies became all ticket for the paddocks as well as the seats and that inevitably reduced the allocation for league games to 8 or 9,000.
