The thread title is wrong......imo.
Never will City have a gate of 62,000.............the title sounds good but even now our record seems to be 54,600?.....and yet they(the club) claim 55,000 seats.
I remember when the gate was 47,500 ?.....and MUEN claimed City were adding 9,000 with the SS expansion...........it never happened.
Well we wont if the extension doesn't happen, but there's obviously plans for the campus that are being worked on.

Evidence: Bernstein appointment and Khaldoon interview where Chis Bailey said he'd seen the plans which were amazing. He said it in relation to the campus. I suspect that ground expansion will link to some overall development.

Minimum would be 61,000. More if redesign that entire end. I hope that it's just a mirror of South Stand. Only worth redesigning if adds alot of extra seats

City building an Academy in Girona.
Land already been acquired.
Obviously not on the scale of ours, but plans to take Barca on for the the best Catalan kids.

All these issues can be sorted. The extent of the piles used for the new high rises would restrict the layout somewhat. But what essentially stops a project like a Manchester underground is capital investment. Undergrounds outside London are restricted to Newcastle upon Tyne which has two lines and Glasgow which has one. Capital investment outside London on projects of this scale like this just doesn't happen anymore.

Yes, all down to capital, and the extra cash needed because of the mine workings means it would be too costly.

And Liverpool has an underground line too.

The problem for me, is when you are in the ground, you have little scope for options other than go hungry, have a dry mouth or pay top whack. BUT I reckon more'd be inclined to take larger amounts of dosh if they had value for money seasoncards. Let's not kid ourselves, the Premier League is the elite league of the world and costs are high but clubs' fans don't change loyalty due to cost, they just drift away and start watching with the means they have, because the once working class game wants tourism and lower middle-class income holders at the game.

Who said it was going to be 9000?
You did not read my original post. The Muen said - quite a few years ago that City will exp[and to 62,000 - in 2 phases - the first one was to be SS extention
of 9,000. It would appear that the SS extension only added 6,900 -
47,700 increased to 54,600 - anyone can correct me on that.

I still think we're a few years off extending the North stand due to demand. In that time we'll see the population of this area increase dramatically with all the new apartments going up. Surely the council will improve public transport, a big help would be to introduce a oyster card so people could jump on buses/trams/trains without needing to pay an arm and a leg. Better yet, why not introduce free public transport with a match ticket? Unfortunately if the council doesn't improve transport, I could see them declining any future expansion.

We as fans need to collectively get our heads around a simple fact though. If you're going to an event with over 50,000 people leaving simultaneously there is ALWAYS going to be some sort of travel disruption. Make a day out of the football, go and have some food or a beer after the game. Most people will be rushing home to sit on their couch and watch britains got talent.
