City to play Girona on the 15th August

Excellent idea. Have a nice week long training camp in Spain and play a friendly while there. It's a bit more bonding for the new lads. And it will give Alexis the chance to get to know his team mates better.

All sounds good to me, I can't see our unofficial b team kicking the shit out of us.
 
the concept of a friendly a few days after the season starts seems moronic on face value, especially if someone gets injured, but rationally;

1 - this wont be so different to intense XI aside training matches (i hope!)
2 - this is a key part of the season to build fitness
3 - there will be a number of lads who will have barely played (Mendy, Silva, Sane, Sanchez(?))
4 - deal with it, this is what football is now, a huge marketing opportunity
 
If we had of ended up 4th last season we would of had the dreaded Champions league playoff on that date. Maybe city had anticipated some football may or may not have needed to be played this week.

That being said - I agree that a warm weather camp is needed between matchday 1 and 2 is not needed and it would just be unsettling; especially if we got beat by Brighton - send B.Silva, Gundogan, Bravo, Mendy and anyone else injured or late and the kids.
 
I think it's a great idea personally, especially given the joke of a preseason we've had the last few years, but doubt the full first team will be playing.
 
Should be a great trip, but be aware August 15th. is a Fiesta day in Spain & not all services open.
