City Top Alternative League table

These sort of stats are meaningless. They assume that if you remove one facet of a game everything else stays the same.
Agreed. It's like saying that because we beat A, and then A beats B the following week, then we should beat B when we play them. Massive (sorry!) oversimplification. It doesn't work that way. Pointless thread really, apart from it showing up just how shite our set pieces are.

We need to employ Tony Pulis and/or Martin O'Neill or even John Beck to give us some better ideas.

Surprisingly Stoke finished mid-table.

you miss the point of this thread in the Alt universe if the other teams had walked off stoke would've champions corners or not

sad thing about this it was clear early on we were shit at maximising our advantage with corners or free kicks and could have dealt with it but maybe next season

Goes to show that despite the amount of possession we had last year, we didn't score enough goals from open play. Either our strikers were wayward or the style of football didn't create enough chances.

I think it proved the opposite, didn't?

I find these kind of stats a bit RAWKish to be honest; I think they recently had a thread where OPTA showed Liverpool would've finished third if they'd scored all their shots that hit the woodwork. That's not how it works, unfortunately.

The only hypothetical I would say about last season: if we'd have beaten the rags at home, I think we would've gone on to win the league.

I don't know why City bother taking corners. They should forfeit them and let the game continue with a throwout from the opposition goalie.

Well, for Spurs and Villa, everything else DID stay the same, in terms of points accrued.

Not a pointless thread at all. I would hope pellers would at least glance at this table to show where we need to improve. He may not realize this and continue with the same old free kick and corner routine. Btw paulchapo, spot on about your analysis of fergie. He knew Chelsea, Arse, and City will be spending this summer and that his luck would only go so far.
