City v Arsenal post match thread

A) it was a friendly
B) of these millions spent, how many played today?

Tit.

Think you misunderstood my post.

If 80-90% of posters on here are correct and Pellers really was "fucking shite" and a "boring fucking corpse" and should have "pissed this league" last season "with this squad" well, newsflash, we still have most of last seasons "should have won the league easily" squad as well as millions of pounds in new toys added to it. Not to mention the greatest manager in the world.

So, the point of my post was simple. there is no need for flapping after a meaningless friendly match. For the reasons above I'm sure and certain we will be just fine this season. I mean it's not like 80-90% of the posters on the various "the manager who won us a double in his first season is a fucking clueless wanker" threads last year could possibly be wrong is it?

As I said, bring on the title, 100's of bluemoon posters can't possibly be wrong.

Who knows? What I do know is that these pre season friendly games are very much the phoney war. I wouldn't spend too much time dwelling on them

This season more than any other it is going to be 10 games in before we get a feel for how good or otherwise this transitionary 1st year will be for City under Pep. But it will be fascinating to see how we evolve whatever happens!

Have a good season.

When did pre season friendlies get so much airtime. Itv1 Ffs. It adds to the over analysis of a glorified training exercise.

Too much attention gets paid to results It beggars belief. I see the scousers beat Barca convincingly the other day but got beaten equally convincingly by Mainz today. Now is anyone telling me in competitive matches Liverpool would beat Barca easily?

So you don't want us to win the title to prove a point?

Weird.

Bollocks. He's just lucky. Lucky with the teams he managed. Lucky to get the jobs. Lucky to be here. Should be fanchester city in charge.

Never mind what 95% of players say about. Ignore other managers that watch him take training. Ignore Eddie Jones and what he says.

Ignore everything, most fans know more than him. Anything else is just a myth.

I bet the **** is no where near Fanchester's level on Champs manager 2012

Don't be bloody pathetic.
The point is, most people at the very top of football aren't there because they're a genius, they were ex-players who got a foot in the door at a top club.
There's plenty of people in the game who are just as knowledgeable, they just aren't at the top clubs and may never be.
Some of the so called 'top managers' make some truly crazy decisions sometimes and yes the fans CAN see those lousy decisions being made.
Nobody's saying Guardiola isn't any good, but he's not a God, and if Manchester City is the toughest task he's faced, that should tell you something.

I'm sure there's some cunts on the Barca forums right now or certainly last night.

Don't understand how anyone has a problem with Pep.

I do understand those who are baffled by our transfers again.

Our CM, CB and LB positions have been a problem for 2 seasons and with a week to go we've still not brought anyone in to start.

So you don't want us to win the title to prove a point?

Weird.

Eh?

I've said in two consecutive posts, in the last few minutes, that I don't just WANT us to win the title (that should go without saying on a city fans forum), but I BELIEVE we will too and people should stop panicking.

Are you hard of understanding?

Many of the same people who have spent the last 4 years slating our title-winning and cup winning managers and telling anyone on here that "Pep would have won that game" EVERY time we didn't win are being a little defensive shall we say.

We were told last season, from game 6 onwards, that the "fucking corpse" should be winning the title "easily" with the squad he had, and that the second best manager in the German league would "walk" the title over here .

Since then we have lavished more tens of millions on the "should be pissing the title" squad and appointed pep four years after first asking (begging) him to be our manager.

By that logic this season should be done and dusted by March. Champions again.

You say it for four years, using it as a stick to annihilate a good man and a great manager with, you own it.

Bring on the title.

Shit - is the season over

You think you're just as knowledgable as a guy who does 12 hours a day studying football and has done as a manager for nearly a decade. A decade unsurpassed in trophy count because if that preparation.

I agree with Pep, who said he was encouraged that most of the goals we conceded were due to our own errors. Gunners only really made one goal - that's good, we won't be making stupid errors for long.

Maybe it's because I'm able to pick up on your sarcastic nuances that I'm not taking you at your word?

Strange eh. It's almost as if I'm the opposite of 'hard of understanding'.

There's no time in England to piss about at the back from the keeper with limited players especially when the said players give it back to the keeper who is then hurried.

Could do with more time before we start.

Sunderland I we'll beat with the crowd/Pep factor but the away CL game could be awful.

I'm not normally negative but whoever signed off this pre-season is a disgrace.

You too
Just beat Man Yoo and embarrass Mourinho
I can't stand either...

He's absolutely embarrassing himself. Won't be the first time either.

Seriously, do you believe a manager like Pep got to the top because of football genius, or because he was a very good footballer to start with, who was then already at a world leading club with a very impressive talent base? He didn't start at Chadderton Town.

Now that's not a criticism of Pep, it's saying that we buy into the 'genius' of big name managers all too easily and treat them as though they MUST know more about football than everybody else.
It's a myth, an utter myth. They are the film stars / pop stars of the football world. Big name draws. It doesn't make them smarter or more capable.

Go and watch the programme on Sky demand called "Pep". Getting praised by the greats of the modern game left, right and centre for his passion, knowledge, meticulous detail, motivation, tactics and unrelenting will to be the best. People like Henry, Cruyff, Xavi, Beckenbauer, Laudrup, Alonso have all said he's a genius. He's no flash in the pan pop star, we've got a guy in charge that has changed the whole genre!

It wouldn't have made any difference because half the team & most of the senior players have been away.

Most of the real work is probably being done on the training pitch.

Tough crowd tonight mate.
