CITY v Bolton - Official Matchday Thread

Just seen the team now and its actually not an over reaction to say I'm quite sickened really. 3 defensive midfielders at home to Bolton is quite shocking really, completely lacking in ambition.

The one slight positive is that its seems to be a 4-3-3 with one winger and one second striker which is probably whats best for us but surely Ireland needs to be playing in this line up? It just doesn't make sense at all that we switch to the tactical set up that will actually suit Stevie and then drop him?

Johnson is 10 times the player petrov is and has played there with boro often.

Not sure if Johnson is 10 times the player Petrov is, but Petrov is just a pure LW. A left footed player who is comfortable on the ball with both feet can actually play quite well on the opposite wing. I think Johnson is better than Petrov in that respect, while Petrov is likely a better pure LW at this point in their careers.

well put, 9 times better then.

actually i'm ringing Mr Guardiola . i need to say him he must play messi on the left coz he is left footed

that ronaldinho on the left with his right foot was a disaster and henry and ginola, i dont know when will these managers learn and start picking the team by a voting system on a fans forum

I will admit that those substitutions did confuse me but that was only one match. Hes made good judgements in the rest so just have faith! I say this now and after 90 minutes when we`ve lost or drawn I`ll be going mad!

What worries me is that wasn't only that game. The sub of Robinho when RSC went down injured made no sense either and only served to embarass Robinho when he had to correct for that mistake later on. Benjani should have been the logical substitution at that point. A big man for a big man. It was only several minutes into the game, so it's not like we knew the tactic wasn't working.

I don`t know. I`m not exactly football minded and wouldn`t have the slightest clue what substitutions to make at any given time but all I know is that I have faith in Mancini. Just not the players.

would that be one, if not THE, best footballers in the world playing for one, if not THE best club side in the world

This is what I said a few days ago after the Hull game:

Regarding De Jong, Barry and Vieira, this is exactly what we saw when Mancini wanted us to push forward. Why? Because a 3-man engine room, with Barry and Vieira able to push foward, and a roaming and brilliant Johnson give our team the ability to control the pace and flow of the game with authority in the middle of the park. This is crucial. I think we will probably crush Bolton.

The abuse I got for saying it was just ridiculous, people telling me there was no way in hell Mancini would go for such a midfield, people thought I was taking the piss.

Let's stay optimistic and try to understand Mancini's thinking, that will be in everyone's interest.

I hope De Jong shits all over Wilshere

Wilshere's RW in a 4-4-2, so is going to be on Barry's side. DJ is not likely to see much of him. Tevez, Barry and Bridge on the left flank.

I think this will give Barry a liecense to get forward for a change
