City v Boro post match

Just my opinion.

Did you see what i did there?

No afraid not, your very clever use of irony there went completely over my head. Similar to the way the ball did over Clichy's head for their equalizing goal today. Never mind, let's only look at the positives from today eh ? I'm sure Pep will.

After the Lord Mayor's show...

That almost felt like a defeat, having the victory snatched away so late in the game.

Once again, we paid the price for not converting our chances.

MotM? Merlin.

So you want to talk about the game rather than my posts?

No worries. Agree, Clichy dropped a huge bollock and not for the first time. Im on record as saying have needed 2 world class full backs as far back as the start of last season and wont change my mind on that as what we currently have are not good enough imo.

I think Pep knows this and I think it will get addressed in the coming windows although im at a loss as to why it wasnt done this summer but not knowing potential targets and their availability, i will give Pep and Txiki the benefit of the doubt.

Again today, an individual error has cost rather than poor tactics so im not concerned going forwards we are approaching games the wrong way, we just need to cut out the mistakes and we need to put the ball in the back of the net.

It will happen.

You have to consider it from their perspective. They aren't going to come to City and dominate possession. They're going to come and defend as well as possible (which they did) and accept that they will get a handful of opportunities all game, but if they take one of those chances, they could snatch a point, or even nick 3 points if we don't score. From that perspective, that plan worked for them. Our plan didn't work for us.

They DID trouble us - but you're viewing trouble in terms of the number of chances they created, and I'm viewing it as the way they defended, which caused us trouble.

With a scoreline of 1-1 given we had so much possession, it's hard to claim they didn't cause us much trouble isn't it?
No it isn't as I said it was what we didn't do, we didn't finish our chances we had several opportunities to kill the game off... that was us not them. They DID NOT trouble us at our end of the field much at all the stats are the best indicator of who's opinion is closer to the truth and it's me sorry.

You seem to want to give them a lot of credit maybe as if it would enhance your reputation somehow for being more balanced but I just find that slightly sycophantic personally(who are you trying to impress with that? Sure most of what you say is how the media will spin it... I fully expect that angle from them, maybe you're paying too much attention to what they are saying?) in light of the facts(which are the stats and the real turn of events during the match)... we could and should have killed the game off they were very fortunate to come away with a point.

We hardly lack firepower - we have a healthy goalscoring record.
If we go with two strikers, then we have to lose one of the more creative players - like KdB, Silva, or we lose a wide player and end up shifting KdB or Silva wider.
There's certainly a massive case for Silva, Navas and Sterling to start adding to the goalscoring, but right now, we're hardly lacking in chances. It's the conversion of chances that's hurting us.

We we stop creating chances, I'll worry about lack of firepower.

I think the manager and the players are equally responsible. Why playing one striker against a team that play 10 in defence, the manager should have given iheanacho the chance to play beside Aguero to open spaces and take off a defender. Aguero should have scored from many easy chances, Bravo should have not conceded that goal.

Whether I have a "crush" on Yaya or not is irrelevant, we've dropped 6 points at home already this season, My own opinion is that Yaya's passing near the penalty box would have helped to convert some of those draws into wins (even if he came on as a sub for the last 20 mins for those three games).

I'm not sure that yaya exists anymore, but you're right we need that type of player at home when mediocre teams sit back as he draws a lot of opposition players in leaving a lot more space for the creators. Shame his agent managed to dripfeed his head full of shit in the last few years.

Another Chuckle Brothers production........

The scoreline is the only measure that counts.
They troubled us because they got more than they expected and we got less. You can claim we troubled ourselves, but they still had to score, and managed it.
They pressed us very well indeed all second half, and worked hard for it. 'Boro did actually take part in the game, and contributed to the end result.
