City v Boro post match

A lot us seem to want an attacking left back, but we need one that can defend first and foremost!

I thought this was the post-Barcelona performance par excellence. The lads huffed and puffed but couldn't raise tired limbs and exhausted minds high enought to clinch the three points. The first half was as one sided as anyone can imagine and in the second half we kept firm control of the match, so that 'boro created one decent chance early in the half before stoppage time and that really frustrating goal. We could and should have been sitting on a comfortable lead by that time but we weren't, and if Pep is concerned about anything it must be our conversion rate. Ironically, but understandably, it was Sergio and KdB, two of our real heroes from Tuesday, who missed gilt-edged chances late on. The consolation is that at this stage in the 2013-4 season we were in a far worse position than this in the table and we won the title by 2 points. Pep will sort it.

It's a much stronger league this year so winning it will be tougher. Chelsea looking ominous and have no European football to worry about. Likewise Liverpool.Unless we develop a streetwise streak sharpish and the manager is prepared to mix it up a bit I doubt we will win it.

I'm hoping with a few more additions (two top class full backs and one more striker please) things will click into place and we will start showing more consistency. I think the league will be a bridge too far this season, I think it's a case of building for next. Pep said as much even during the winning run.

We have less firepower up front if today when Kun is not on fire but other can do we will be fine. But our team are mostly rely on Kun. Other players are 10 yards reliable scorer.

Sensible post at last.

This inability to take chances is making things far more difficult than they should be. First half I don't think Boro actually got into our area. Game should have been done by half time but instead we only have one goal and then a lacklustre second half

It's going to be harder against the likes of Chelsea because they won't give us many chances or a monopoly of the ball.

Disappointed with Pep not bringing on subs more quickly- we were crying out for fresh legs to help get the second.

I'm a big pep fan but he got it wrong today. Full backs coming inside when we are playing against a back 9 with no intention of going forward. The full backs should of been right up the pitch providing the width and stretching the 2 banks of 4 and allowing silva and kdb to come inside.

The first 2 subs he made were poor also. Taking gundogan off for Nolito with 15 to play , we should of been making us more solid not the other way round. ( resulted in traore waltzing through our midfield. Then taking Navas off
Who had that left back who crossed the ball for the goal pinned all game for a young kid who is very tidy on the ball but not the grit you need with 5 mins to go.

All teams are going to press us, that's the only way to get the ball back, they did put a lot of effort in that second sure enough(against team with a lot of players that faced Barcelona 3 days previous who were always going to tire in the second half) but as I said you can't give too much credit for that because how do you measure success? We seem to have different opinions on that but I can't see how you can say they "deserved" it no matter which way I look at it.

Some more stats for you of our 71% possession 83% of that was in the final third up in their end of the field, if the main objective of pressing is to get us to turn over the ball and they come away with only 29% possession they were only successful at keeping us from scoring which is just the bare minimum, I wouldn't even say they were successful at keeping us at bay or controlling much of the game since we spent most of our time in their half(even better it was the final 3rd around their penalty area).

I'm pretty certain if Clichy makes a decent effort to win that ball in injury time and sees the danger out you wouldn't be saying they deserved more and there's no way they get another chance after that, we weren't "under the cosh" in any way shape or form I'm not having that.

We started playing poorly once Fernandinho gave the ball away and Negredo had that shot from 45 yards. It all seemed to go a bit tits up after that but we are conceding too many goals to teams who are creating very little. We have to be able to win 1-0 sometimes and it seems we are just not capable of this. Clichy offers us zero so I have no idea why he was picked in a game like that.

Blaming or finding fault with Clichy who has 2 opponents to cover is quite rich. The fact of the matter is that we were outnumbered defending, in that critical area, the cross! For one reason or another Pep system broke down.

It's irresponsible to blame Clichy!

Other than KDB who is WC at providing the key to unlock a stubborn defense who else do we have? Yaya?
Other than Aguero, who are our WC goalscorers? Dzeko and Mario has long bolted!

It was a bad place to the ball but I'd be fuming if he scored from that far out haha. I just felt the Barca game was catching up with the players the further into the second half we got especially with it still being 1-0, tension can drain a player if we had that 2 goal cushion the players would have seen the game off comfortably for me, it would have made all the difference.

It wasn't to be but I'm already over it, we're seeing draws as losses now what difference from Pellers that is when you think about it. :)
