City v Boro post match

I thought this was the post-Barcelona performance par excellence. The lads huffed and puffed but couldn't raise tired limbs and exhausted minds high enought to clinch the three points. The first half was as one sided as anyone can imagine and in the second half we kept firm control of the match, so that 'boro created one decent chance early in the half before stoppage time and that really frustrating goal. We could and should have been sitting on a comfortable lead by that time but we weren't, and if Pep is concerned about anything it must be our conversion rate. Ironically, but understandably, it was Sergio and KdB, two of our real heroes from Tuesday, who missed gilt-edged chances late on. The consolation is that at this stage in the 2013-4 season we were in a far worse position than this in the table and we won the title by 2 points. Pep will sort it.

These post CL games are hurting us at the minute and much of that is due to the squad not being good enough when the main players don't play.

Ideally we should have been able to make a number of changes today and not compromise performance but the only players to come in are Clichy who let's face it is limited and Navas who played well. The other options are 4 kids, Nolito (not sure why he isn't getting in at home) and Kompany who clearly isn't fit enough to start games yet after his "tired" performance in the EFL.

I am assuming that Otamendi and Sterling were injured.

I thought Sane would have been offering a lot more than he is but he perhaps needs a season to get going and other than that who would really change things?

We are lacking quality full backs, a striker who can play alongside Kun or in his place when needs be and a younger version of Silva who I thought was poor today.

I think it is going to take a year and 2 more windows to get this sorted. We will still have our good days like Tuesday but I think there will also be more days like Southampton and today.

Blaming or finding fault with Clichy who has 2 opponents to cover is quite rich. The fact of the matter is that we were outnumbered defending, in that critical area, the cross! For one reason or another Pep system broke down.

It's irresponsible to blame Clichy!

Other than KDB who is WC at providing the key to unlock a stubborn defense who else do we have? Yaya?
Other than Aguero, who are our WC goalscorers? Dzeko and Mario has long bolted!

I was no Dzeko fan boy but it's the type of goal he scored, we are no longer capable of getting. Just need to add variety. If defences start fearing our crosses it pulls bodies out wide.

You should know by now that posting sense doesn't go down well on here lol. Totally agree. Finishing was off again, need to put games to bed early after midweek matches. Owen Hargreaves on BT PL tonight show has just sang the teams praises and literally told Humphreys and the viewers to wise up, that in full flow City are by far the best team in the league. McManaman agreed and even Scholes was complimentary and all this after Chelski demolished the Toffees. Perhaps people need to accept that football can be a cruel game, on another day it could've been 10. 25 shots to their 1

I dare to say I am and always Dzeko fan. In hindsight letting him go and bringing in the likes of Bony was 'unprofitable' !

I'm not sure that yaya exists anymore, but you're right we need that type of player at home when mediocre teams sit back as he draws a lot of opposition players in leaving a lot more space for the creators. Shame his agent managed to dripfeed his head full of shit in the last few years.
There were numerous occasions today where Aguero could have been fed a direct pass. Instead everytime the ball ended up wide. Yaya had that special passing vision and would often try the no look direct pass. Not for one minute saying I'd have him back but we were fairly predictable today when attacking.

Pissed off as i may be, I am trying to be positive and think that these games at least give Pep more information about what our deficiencies are and what needs to be done. If we can stay near the top of the table whilst still learning, we should be in great shape towards the end of the season.
