City v Bristol City 1st leg post match

Good post. It's mental on here sometimes. You wouldn't have thought we were having the season we are, breaking records as we go. If people aren't happy with what's happening now, then they are never going to be happy watching football. We won't win every game scoring 4 or 5 goals, but we are winning virtually every game, even when we go behind. We can't play our first 11 in every game, due to the number of games we have, fighting in 4 competitions. For those who are not happy, when have we ever had it better than this?

They would complain if Beyonce didn't light up after three hours of rumpy pumpy with her in front of JayZ.

There really are some smacked arses on here. If I were just reading this board and didnt watch the game I would be under the impression that we were awful and were lucky to not have taken a hiding.

It was a cracking game of football, Bristol turned in a performance that not so long ago we would have been delighted with. Credit where its due to them, and I must admit to feeling a tad sorry for them conceding a winner so late having to a man run their bollocks off and defended fantastically well.

Lets have it right though City deserved the win, yes wasteful finishing and the considerable effort made by Alty Taylor probably did much to keep the tie alive despite Bristols fine efforts.

The shit being given out to some of our players is truly inexplicable. Clearly Yaya is finished and its hard to see Mangala cutting it..that said he has put in some decent shifts recently. The defence today would have kept a clean sheet were it not for a brainless tackle that would have had a Sunday manager at Hough end going ape and that was Stones. He probably needed these cup games before Liverpool and hopefully the couple of bollock drops are now out of his system.

Whats the moanfest about Sane. I thought Bristol defended well against him, closed him down quickly in numbers and blocked alot of his passes or shots. Sane is still a young pleayer with much to learn...he learned some of it tonight, but to say he was shit tonight is absolute nonsense.

Bernado seems to be taking flak, again a young player who probably hasnt come up against the kind of opposition he faced tonight. He didnt do bad tonight and his cross for the winner shows what he can do, again a player who may well take alot from this evening.

Gundogan might not have hit the highs he has reached in the past but the injuries have been a major inteference, he was frustrating tonight but hardly the donkey that some are making out.

As for Bravo, he did nothing wrong tonight and like a few have said has played very well when called upon this season.

Just maybe the manager who is desperately trying to do the near impossible and winning all that we are in for picked a team good enough to make sure we go both into the second leg and Anfield in the best shape to remain unbeaten in the League and secure a Wembley Cup Final over the next couple of weeks and should be trusted a little more by some of this parish!

Hard to believe that we just won a first leg of a semi final and as a result will go to the second leg with the advantage despite being away and people are moaning as if we had just dropped points in a relegation battle.

Pep knows the team are still learning, he knows that players must come in to keep improving the team and squad and I am sure he will be bringing those players in when he is able to and feels it is appropriate to do so.

Well done blues and well done Bristol for making a great contest of it.

Top post blue.

as you say, if people arent happy now they never will be. winning pretty much every game and up for every trophy and there is still some right moaning on here.

First of all credit to the conquerors of the rags who showed that they really are a good team and they took the game to us far more than most have this season. I almost felt sorry for them at the end. But not that much.

That winner will do Sergio a power of good and he seems to be finding his form again. Great striker's goal. Great cross too.

KDB was immense tonight I thought. The lad is a born winner as well as a sublime talent. Praise be.

Raheem worked his socks off again and he controlled a few balls that he wouldn't have a year or so ago. He's becoming a great player.

Leroy was dangerous but nothing came off and I thought Gundo and Bernie did well enough. Both are quality players.

Zinchenko had another decent outing too.

But our success this season has been built on the foundation of Ederson, Otamendi, Walker, Delph, Stones and Fernandinho. So, if only one of them plays we're gifting the opposition time, space and initiative. I know we can't play them all in every game and it was enough tonight, in the end, so we got away with it. I would never have less than 3 of them in the team, even in this competition.

If Ferna had started ahead of Yaya we'd have won that by 3 or 4 in my opinion. Yaya slows us down so much it's unbearable.

I also want to say how well I thought Zinchenko played. Very tidy footballer. Did some good defensive work today as well.

Think it's obvious we have an excellent squad of about 13/15 players. The rest are average. It showed tonight, bravo, no! Mangala is no more than a pub player on his performance tonight. Yaya, been great for us but sorry it's time. Bernado, hopefully one for the next season, not convinced! Gunda another ?. Danilo, another not up for it. I would hope we will sign a striker and a defender in this window. Sanchez will be a great addition up top we need him now with jesus out. However strength at the back is as important. We always look vulnerable!

There was one big positive. Kevin De Bruyne.

We will get through 2nd leg. They had their game today. United had shit loads of chances there and we will too.

Need to play a better side than that to be sure though which illustrates the need for reinforcements.

100% correct regarding KDB , i posted something similar in his player thread , you just take for granted KDB will turn up and put in a performance , we need to play the first choice back four and we will be fine at Ashton Gate , as you said the Rags created chances and we created plenty tonight , so we will score goals down there .We need the defence tightening up for any set pieces/breakaways , not booking the Wembley hotel just yet though , supported them too long to tempt fate.

Mangala may have an awful first touch, a prime requisite for Pep, but he is not a pub player just old school, and that just about sums your post up as drivel
