City v Chelsea post match

It's not just strikers that can score goals though is it.

And Jesus hasn't played yet.

How many strikers did we have when we kept scoring the most goals in the league? 4? Our other players don't score enough goals so we need more options up front.

Just saw KDB's chance again...what the fuck was he doing?

Harder to miss than score.

All these constant missed chances will ruin our season if they don't start burying them.

Reminded my of Torres after his brain transplant, v the rags.

Boils down to the lack of finishing and poor defending on the break.

To win these games you have to score the goal that KDB missed and not have an opposition scoring 3 goals from 3/4 shots on target for the game.

Pep has intimated with this squad we might struggle to finish top four this season ( maybe tongue in cheek , maybe wanting some slack as the squad is reshaped over the next 2/3 windows , maybe just plain reality or a combination of all three ) but if we don't improve at both ends of the pitch and I dare say significantly it will be a struggle.

One of my biggest concerns under Pelligrini was the development of a really soft underbelly to the team during his time with us.

Honestly I thought that would dissappear almost immediately under Pep, but it hasn't.

We still look without fight, when we pressed we were disjointed, when we defended we looked laboured and without any conviction.

In possession we did enough against a well drilled team to win the game, so that isn't a concern. However it's very much a concern that we are not taking them. De Bruyne puts that away it's game over.

Long way to go, and Chelsea will wobble, but we are a million miles away from the standard he wants. We are losing the big games, just like last season, and our home form is still really really poor.

He's going to have to earn his coin here.

Stretching to reach the ball and only just getting to it you plum. Do you think he made a decision in that moment?

Yes I do, even though he was stretching he tried to put power in the shot instead of cushioning the ball. It was a bad miss.

Buddy well have to agree to disagree. Kevs two very good chances were created. Their winner came from a mistake from sane. It's seems you think their chances were all awesome and ours were shit where I'd say hazards in the first half wasn't even a shot and we had men back. Costa in the second was a harder position than the one kev had where sane played him in. Give us some credit mate.
I will not argue thiugh about our defence. It is piss poor and has been even more so under Pep which is very worrying.

i think our defenders and our defensive set up contributed to all 3 goals....

Goal one - ottemendi done by a long ball over the top...wrong side of costa, then has to get back but hasn't got the strength

Goal 2 - ball lost in midfield but a defender dives in around the half way line (not sure who it was) which then leaves half a pitch for the attacker to run into and one on one vs a defender who doesn't get close enough to him and allows his to shoot at a goal where the goal keepers position is inexplainable and is leaving so much space to shoot at.

Goal 3 - similar but CKolarov looks like he is running through cement and our defenders are so high up the pitch its inevitable

In football he other team is going to attack. we are going to lose the ball in midfield or upfront and as the Yanks say there will be turnovers in possession but this is where our defensive player must do their job and they simply aren't.....and the way Pep is asking them to play is exposing them even more

We must either adapt to the players we have defensively OR get new defenders...and considering we cant dot he second option (or highly unlikely till next summer) to have any chance this season we have to change what we are doing at the back.....

We will suffer the same issues when Liverpool play us and arsenal.......
