City v Chelsea post match

Our defending is attrocious, we cant defend 1-0 leads and that means you cant grind out wins to win titles.
Ottamendi was pathetic in the first goal and Bravo is rank average at best. I still believe he should have saved the first goal and his positionong for their secong goal was all wrong. Compare that to Courtois...we need to find a clinical finisher because we dont have the old Yaya to get us out of jail any more and we need a defensive overhaul ( excluding Stones). We pissed this game down the drain and made it worse with the undisciplined shit at the end of the game.

Well our finishing has been awful lately, so let's hope the most clinical striker in the league takes his chance again now Aguero's banned for 4 games.

But fuck me, how many times is a single long pass going to open up our entire defence? You can kinda forgive the last one because we were chasing the game, but for their second goal, it was 1-1. Where's the pragmatism? Why are we throwing the kitchen sink at a team that's top of the league when we're drawing against them? A 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea is hardly the end of the world. I'm not saying we should shut up shop and play for the draw, but we shouldn't be leaving the entire defence exposed.

Guardiola doesn't play for draws.

Sergio did this at the end if the last home game v Boro. Overran the ball and went in late and got booked. "Not that sort of player" doesn't wash now, whatever the provocation.

Anyway, lets look on the bright side ... we gifted the points to Chelsea to stop the Dippers winning the Prem. I am sure we all would rather see Chelsea win it than Liverpool ... wouldn't we?

Agreed. He's got plenty of Argie in him, no doubt.

Twice in one season, and this could see him miss 5 games, if the Prem want to set a precedent, and why not, as it will mean he misses Liverpooltoo. And, don't be surprised if Fernandinho gets 4 games...3 for the reduced and one more for not leaving the field and continuing to be aggressive. Throw in a Ota's yellow for a beautiful tackle that wasn't even a foul and he will be in the stands at Leicester, too.

So, Sagna, Stones, Kolarov and Clichy at Leicester, Fernando/Yaya and Gundogan in the middle, and Navas/Sterling and Sane wide, with KDB & Silva rotating into the middle. Team starts to pick itself with a few injuries and suspensions! Would like to see Garcia, Nacho, and Tosin on the bench.

not clinical enough at home that is plain to see, that will be masked with the chaos that ensued at the end
we would be away and gone over the hills if we had taken some(not even all) of our chances

Yesterday turned out to be a disaster. The same problems that has affected the team surfaced once again- too wasteful and nonchalant in the final third. The tactics once again was spot on, with Sane and man of the match from our side Navas nullifying Moses and Alonso for most of the game and exposing their back three. We were the better team throughout the game but unlike Chelsea, we were not playing with the same mind and so could not capitalize on the chances despite getting into good positions numerous times. Individuals in the team should also be called out like Otamendi, who has shown that he is not as good as some people may think, that ball hung in the air for such a long time but he could not deal with it and when Costa brought it down, he brushed Otamendi aside like a nobody and this should not be happening. He was also at fault for the second goal when he committed to a tackle despite not having a chance to win the ball. The worrying thing is that the attention seems to be given to Stones when Otamendi and Kolarov are much bigger problems.

But as I said, all this would not have mattered much if we took the chances with Aguero and De Bruyne in particular. And as it is with football you can get punished and typically that is what happened in the game. They were honest and clinical with their chances and because of that the team became frustrated and this built up until it all blew up at the end of the match. Aguero's tackle was shocking and profoundly bad as he surely knew the consequences and everything else afterwards occurred as a result of that tackle with the ref characteristically punishing our players and not theirs.

Speaking of the ref, the fact that the premier league had the audacity to appoint someone like that shows that it is no longer hidden anymore and they can get away with it because there are very few, if any, people in the media and the public sphere who is fighting or in our corner to call them out. It is a horrible form of reverse psychology, almost criminal to put a ref in the situation where he has to prove that he is not biased against Chelsea because he is from Manchester and therefore loath to give any 50-50 calls or in this game fairly clear calls to us.It is criminal and a deplorable move by the premier league and a deplorable performance from the ref but as I said, no one in the media will call it out because it seems that the bias and the palpable hatred towards City from the media and the public sphere is getting even worse.

So a horrible result both with the scoreline and the red cards and Guardiola has a lot of work to do in the next month or so to make the most of the situation. In comparison with Conte in the match, I think Guardiola won the battle in terms of tactics and starting line up but Conte won in terms of in-game decisions and adjustments. Taking off Sane for Clichy was not the right decision. But the bottom line is that we have to play with the same mind, as a single unit that passes at the right time, shoots at the right time and take chances and this is why we are not at the top despite being the best team whereas Chelsea looked like a well drilled team that have to be favorites now for the premiere league. We have to find a way to overcome the misfortune that seems to plague the team.

Still not beaten a top 6 side in 2 years says it all, simply not good enough, we won't win anything this year I expect pep to have a plan to move us to the next level next season. It's clear we need speed at the back apart from Stones to be the only survivor including the keeper. I think if we can sort the back out the rest is ok just a few additions to the squad.
