City v Everton Post Match Thread

i know we played well when we attack but when we're defending for the ball that seems not go well for us,against Bayern Munich we crumble at the middle allowing them to press in our half like is no ones business.we have been defending like that under Mancini and still persisting under how new manager which i think is being addressed.going for the ball has not being our greatest of qualities in interception, tackling for the ball should be done by all the players not only the back and i plead with the managers to stop tracking back when we are under attack.that has helped in anyway for long now and i hope we do something about these before we lose our focus against the big team this season.

Tonight on motd we start with a team in the bottom half of the league verse the team at the bottom of the league !
Liniker's snide comments pissed me off, "what was the differance between the two sides, apart from all the decisions going against Everton" ! Funny last week it was "good to see" a lineman ignoring a clearly offside goal. Also same thing in the Liverpool/Palace game ie penalty like City's, and Ian Holloway saying " if that was a pen, well we should of had one" yet not a word about it back in the studio !

...and did you hear Lineker's little Freudian slip whilst discussing Un*t*d's win with Hodgson?

Also did you notice Micky Owen's slip re Fenandinho during live commentary ?

Milner "got away with it " when he was yellow carded
Their penalty was surely a better claim than ours
Zabaletta went down very easily
Fourth goal would have been "flattering" to City
Makes you wonder!?!

On the Milner tackle, yes it was a bit reckless or overenthusiastic, however:

Had one foot on the floor so was not out of control.
Came across the attacker to block the ball, did not aim at the attacker himself - the attacker's own momentum contributed to the collision looking so bad when he went over the top of Milner
Actually got the ball first without malicious intent (ok this was partly luck in the way the ball bobbled but second point is still valid.)
The second toffee also choosing to flop over the end of the challenge made it look more like a Bruce Lee sweep than it actually was.

So overall, I would agree a booking was probably fair but any more, unjustified.

Was that something about Paulinho?

What i can't understand is how, at some point in the second half one of the Everton defenders hammered the ball back to Howard, who picked the ball up and play went on.

How is this not a free kick? Negredo (I think) was going mental.

I know I had been drinking but I didn't think I was THAT pissed

I remember that too.

Think it was Jagielka who played it back to him from the halfway line and he just picked it up.

It was so ridiculous I actually saw the funny side of it!

I was watching the game streamed and I'm fairly sure I know the incident you mean. On TV it was clear it came off the City player who was closing him down, so wasn't a backpass, but from the reaction of the crowd I could tell that many in the crowd couldn't see that.

Commentator on MOTD is such a rag , it's ridiculous.

INCREDIBLY biased, it's not even subtle this time.

Just watched this now - embarrassing.

Whats his name, awful in the extreme.

The good thing is at City you can have a chat with the commentators if in CB 3,I have done it a few times,Andy Gray,Beags,Motson in the past.Always good fun.

Would be nice to look out for this fellah next time hes with us and ask him the basis of some of his comments.
