Plenty of history and memorable games against Huddersfield in the past.

Who can forget the 10-1, if you went? :-)

Stand corrected, but didn't we play them in the FA Cup at their old ground when we took 500,000. Taking over Huddersfield, and one complete open end of their stadium.

Who can forget Andy Morrison making his debut at Huddersfield. And changing the history of City in the process.

Should be a cracking day out and atmosphere. Within an hour by train, coach, or car.

Pep will love it. His first true traditional away FA Cup tie against a lower division side.

I remember going huddersfield in late 90s and when we scored city fans ran onto pitch and into our end was only a kid then :) think they beat us at home same season 1 nil chris beech header bruce was manager if i remember correctly.

I remember the 10-1 and all three of the cup matches the same season
Apart from those my memory of them is blank

Didn't they win on the last day of the season which confirmed our relegationto the third tier?

Memories still a bit hazy but:-

The 10-1 i seem to remember us playing absolute garbage for first 20 mins until McNab scored the goal.

One of cup games was a John Gidman free-kick in the dying seconds to get us a replay.
Also remember one of the games against them (could of been the one above) where all the trains from Manchester was delayed and held up at somewhere like Stalybridge.
We was lucky and got in the ground about 5 mins after kick-off, but right up to half time you could see blues filing into the ground that had obviously been on later trains than ours.

The other replay we had with them; mid-week game where it pissed down all game on us in the uncovered end behind the goal. Think we won it 3-0 with Varadi grabbing one of them. Even better was that we knew we had Blackpool away in the next round. :)

I remember it was also while waiting at Huddersfield Station to get the train home one time that some real shady Blue came up to us and asked us if we 'battled'. After giving him some really weird looks, he told us not to worry, but if we did 'Battle' then get rid of any 'scrap books' as there was gonna be dawn raids soon. Then told us his scrap book was safe & sound, stored in his grandad's shed.
This was months & months before the 'Guv'nors' eventually got raided.

Looking back, the football was always up & down, but City away days were always pure entertainment. :)

Have posted on here previously that I was at the 10-1 and didn't see the 10th go in! As Whitey raced clear I couldn't bear to watch and just reacted to the ensuing bedlam surrounding me in the Kippax. Had to watch the re-run on Sunday afternoon on Kick Off, or was it the Big Match, on ITV.

Memories abound also of the 2-2 at Leeds Rd, when Gidman smashed in the last minute equaliser. Christ, what a day that was - pissing it down all day, stood on an open end, and remember at the end of the game Blues trying to lift the big wooden exit gates off their hinges. Was stood underneath one of the floodlight pylons and found myself next to a girl who I hadn't seen from Primary School days.

Although I find myself at a certain age whereby I wouldn't like to swap the comfortable surroundings of the Etihad, those were fantastic days. Days that today's young 'uns will sadly not get to experience. Proper away days. On the lash all day, a near military operation to get to and from the ground in one piece, and pure unadulterated joy (read going bloody mental) on packed terraces (sometimes dangerously packed) when we scored. A lifetime away from today's sanatised, health and safety obsessed shite.

Christ knows how some people who sit and moan all the time at games these days, would have coped back then haha.

"Oh we never win at home, and we never win away..."

i remember going to hudderfields away and i think Mark Lillis score for them and they had a big stand like the kippax i think we lost or drew
