City V Huddersfield Town Previous Games

My first game at Leeds Road was Boxing Day 1983 when City took a huge following.
3-1 victory, with Geoff Lomax slicing a cross into their goal for the 3rd.
The 2-0 victory the following season was televised by Yorkshire TV, and there was an awkward moment when Peter Swales and the Huddersfield Chairman shared a pre-match ceremonial beer out of a large tankard.
Gordon Smith scored and there was a comical pitch invasion from the City section of the Main Stand.

Did the 2-2 away cup game or 1-1 can't remember the score but I know we scored very late to draw, went on my motorcycle and was probably the only dry person in our end, waterproofs and helmet on all game.

My only other visit was to the new ground for a friendly under KK think we won 2-0. It was a testimonial for somebody and during the old players being presented at HT was Andy Morrison who even from the halfway line looked shocked at us all cheering like mad.

Seem them at our pad whenever we played them since '70. The 10-1 from under the North Stand roof on the kippax corner and an awful 0-0 are the standout games, along with probably the worst away kit I've seen, green & yellow squares.

We took a huge following to the away game in 65/66, a time when cops were burly and not to be toyed with. These were also days when toilet rolls were thrown onto the pitch. There were a line of cops standing on the low wall above the terraces and some fans were singing "Ten blue coppers, standing on a wall" much to the disgust of the Sergeant in charge. One blue near me shouted some insult towards the cops but he didn't see the Sergeant point his staff towards him and let's just say the lad had plenty of mumbled warnings to scarper, which he just about managed. As for the game itself, I think it was a tight goalless draw but even so, going to away games then were more enjoyable than they are nowadays

My second away game without the old man was Huddersfield away in 1985 I think. I went to Oldham in the December and this was shortly after. Think we won 2-0 but can't be sure. Remember going to Blackburn and Notts county that season too. That was a huge following that day.

Yes I remember being on the open terrace behind the net in 84/85 also the season before when we won 3-1.

Did we play them on a Friday night in the league last time we played them away, my memory has gone

Went to the 10-1 and all,the cup games that season. Unfortunately my abiding memory was after the cup game at Leeds Road when Gidman scored that last minute free kick. We were driving back through the town centre and a group of City hooligans set about a Huddersfield fan who was walking along with his young son. They absolutely battered him to a pulp and his little lad was distraught. It was horrible to see and left a young me in tears. I thought these hooligans only targeted likeminded idiots. It wasn't all great in those days.
