City v Hull - pre-match thread

Its a QF but we've gone from playing a PL club in the last round to a Championship team this round. Which means that there isn't the build up in interest that the Capital One cup requires at this stage. If it had been Hull, followed by Palace (or any PL club) there would be much greater interest.

1. This game is not going to be easy ... although on paper this was the weakest you could draw, but then that's exactly been our issue where we think we just need to turn up to win ...

2. What's with the ticket sales? Why are people staying away? It's a Quarter Final ffs and priced very reasonably at that ...

3. Pellegrini will pick the strongest possible XI as he has always done from the day he arrived, that was the reason this was the first pot he won with us ... it depends then on those XI to also turn up ... whenever we have failed, we have simply failed because our players didn't put a shift in and thought the opposition should just roll over ... Newcastle had come with kids and we had our strongest side out and still lost so it's not up to Pellers on who to put out there but whoever he puts out will need to play for full 90 mins to win it.

4. Aguero is out for Stoke and Gladbach both (and of course for this Hull game, but then he wasn't ever gonna start in this one anyway) ... Now up to Pellers whether he saves Bony for Stoke and Gladbach and starts Nacho or wants Bony to get some game time and some confidence ahead of those two ... let's see how it goes. But Bony so far has been much worse than Dzeko ever was for us. I have a feeling he might go 4-4-2 again and will start them both.

5. Whatever happens, no more injuries please!
Have the club confirmed Aguero is out for these three games? Where did I miss that!!

Been a few cup games this season where there has been a huge late surge in sales - we shifted thousands in the 24 hours leading up to the Juve, Palace, and Seville games so could still be a decent crowd. That said, sales up to this point have been much slower than any of those games. Palace had the advantage of being half-term so plenty of kids in attendance but this is the quarter final and prices are very reasonable.

I think having 4 home games in 2 weeks close to Xmas is going to make alot of fans (especially those with match-going kids) pick and choose the games they go to. It will be interesting to see how many we get for the Borussia game as well.

Personally I am really looking forward to the Hull game as I prefer going to domestic cup games to European ones and it's a great opportunity to get to a Semi Final. Hull will be bringing a decent following which should help with the atmosphere. I think Pellers will select a strong team for this one. Hopefully we can start strong again and get a couple of early goals and maybe be able to change things in the 2nd half with Stoke in mind. But this is City so anything could happen, and probably will.

I hope that Manuel is not in the 'Just turn up' group with this match. We need a strong side and a strong forceful display from the whistle. If he sets up a side that hasn't played together it could be recipe for a turnover. Hull have SFA to lose and will be up for adding a PL scalp to their trophy cabinet. De Bruyne and Sterling must play. If anyone needs a rest it's Yaya. Start with Delph and Ferny. Wilf has gotta have a full allround high scoring game soon - this could be the one!!!! I'd also play a couple of kids at FB. From what I've seen Angelino and Maffeo are solid enough.

If you look at the planner even the green/yellow availability is actually just a few seats in each block.

I'm sure we might knock 40,000 again, which, given everything going on at the moment, is fine by me. having sat in about 11,000 home to Manfield once in the League cup and about 35,000 in the league under Mr Stuart Pearce.

To put it into more context the semi final against West Ham got 30,381. It's just the status of the League Cup now we are in the CL I'm afraid. Only the final will sell out for us (I hope)
