How many ex dippers have there been mouthing off in the media. Surely they are not keeping quiet as they do not want to embarrass themselves so soon.

If you're going to pick someone who's not been on the preseason you might as well go with Otamendi.
 
Playing Sterling as the main striker is probably Pep's only alternative for Sunday , but that doesnt bode well , his scoring record against his former club is horrendous and has never had a decent game against them , would rather have a less than match fit Jesus starting on Sunday with Sterling and Bernardo in the wide positions
Will be interesting to see if Sane is in the match day squad , it would be fair to assume he has other things on his mind and really hasnt decided if he wants to play for our club anymore , because Pep demands 100% mental and physical commitment from all his players.
 
Could we surprise them by using Sane as our striker?

Sane has a great record vs Liverpool and seems to have VVD's number. Sane left him in the dust for our goal in the friendly match last summer, then won a pen at Anfield, then was brilliant against VVD and De Ligt with Germany and then scored the winner in January.

I expect Otamendi will feature, with him it’s purely a fitness issue as to how many minutes he can play. But if Laporte is out then we’re likely to need a back up centre back to feature at some stage. Garcia should be match fit and he’s been around the first team squad for longer than THB. I just don’t see any point in playing Danilo if he’s on his way. It’s a good opportunity to test the readiness of our back up centre backs and we’d be wasting that if we play Danilo
