I'm extremely satisfied with the league, just suggesting improvement.

Quite sure that Mancini isn't in the dressing room pointing at the league table, he strives for continuous improvement hence the thread.

If you are too sensitive to criticism to handle a tactics thread, don't reply, easy.

Top of the leagu 5 points clear 43 goals for and 12 against and u have to criticise the team?

It's the reason we're out of Europe.

Are we ?

Re: City against counter-attacking football

I agree.

Earlier in the season we were getting away with it because we were making small fouls in the opposition's half when we gave the ball away, there was a report on it on here somewhere, doesn't seem to be happening any more.

Will need to be looked at.

my favourite Suarez dive was late in the 2nd half when he had half a step on Lescott, who recovered, then Suarez stood on top of the ball, took a tumble, and was looking at the ref for a whistle before he even hit the ground. Grade A ****.

I thought we looked just as vulnerable to the quick counter today as we did against Napoli. Loads of giveaways in the final 3rd and acres of space for the other team. Today at least our fullbacks recovered but I thought central midfield didn't. We've tried both De Jong and Barry with Milner and Yaya, but nothing seems to help. Against Napoli it was Dzeko and Mario, today it was Nasri and Aguero, again neither setup seems to help.

What would you do transfer or strategy wise to stop this? This is not a player slagging thread considering we've looked vulnerable to this strategy no matter who plays.

we didnt concede and their goal was a fluke.. get a grip ffs man you'll live longer.

Re: City against counter-attacking football

i agree with the o.p we need to get better and better. yes we are doing very well but we leave ourselves open.

not sure how to solve the problem but i'll leave it to bobby.

Re: City against counter-attacking football

Pretty much every team in the world is vulnerable to the counter attack when it is played well.

We are doing great. Value of today's point should not be underestimated. Given the circumstances (ridiculous OG, nonsensical red card) it's even better.

Nothing wrong with having a great keeper either. They get their reputations by making saves because, shock horror, even the greatest teams need saving now and again. Look at Schmeichel - playing behind a great defence he still needed to make save after save over the years.

Re: Operation Anfield Exercise

Oh it's not code for them to break into the cars in the car park while everyone is watching the match then ?

Re: City against counter-attacking football

I had this conversation with a city fan the other day.

We look like a house built on sand. We look like we could crumble at any time.
If we go on a bad run, our confidence could disappear.
We dont look solid enough. Something is amiss and i cant put my finger on it.
