City v Liverpool Post Match Thread

liverpool are a very good team and all credit to BR i think along with arsenal its between the three of us for the title if liverpool dont make it they certainly will replace the rags in the top 4 slot, the match well we did enough to win it this was never going to be a 6-4 scoreline liverpool missed two sitters but at the end of the day they have to go in or it means nothing

Another thing mr Rodgers seems to forget are the 2 opportunities Liverpool had that were MILES offside, remember the back heel flick thing Henderson tried to do? When the ball came in originally he was 3 yards offside but he had the last effort on goal, so he then became live and should have been given offside! But the ref continued with play and hart made a smart save, countinho had one in the first half too

I used to like Brendan Rodgers but I am beginning to get really fed up with his sanctimonious attitude and comments......no mention of the continuous shirt pulling by his own players. Also, Suarez is such a cheat with his diving and constant moaning and this is never addressed by Saint Brendan. It is a shame that Suarez cannot play his football without trying to get an 'Oscar' at every contact he has with a defender.

On a positive note, it was a great game of football yesterday with great quality shown by both sides......in my opinion Liverpool are easily the best team we have played this season.
All true. But they played just as well against us last season.

Black mark against Liverpool for bending to Suarez and tolerating and turning a blind eye to his conduct. No one comes anywhere near close to his diving and theatrics.

Great to see Vinnie exploiting the shirt pulling to great effect!! Whist the defender is tugging the shirt he siimply cannot get off the ground to make a challenge for the ball. Kompany knows this and actually uses him to great effect as a 'human lever' to climb on knowing whatever he does (Kompany) will go unpunished!

I think everyone can see that we gave you the hardest game you've ever had at the Etihad. 2-1 the final score was. Not 4-1, not 5-1, not 7-0.

And it isn't even the scoreline. Up until the final whistle we could have equalised and had chances. We matched you in everything you did. I think the reason why everyone's impressed is because this period for us has been labelled as being "the test". The point where we see just how good we really are. And on THAT performance, id say a) we're one of the most exciting teams to watch, and b) if we can keep that level of performance up. We're in a really good position for top four and possibly even more.

We're playing with NO fear. We took the game to you guys.

Bring on Chelsea! We're going to fuck all over Mourinho's record at the Bridge.

P.S boy am I looking forward to the return leg at Anfield

No you didnt.. we had more possession, more shots, and more goals...the one thing you did more of was shirt pulling!!
Nosferatu 3-Lescott 1.

Exactly, no point moaning about if we had finished this chance or that chance, you didn't !! If Liverpool had been of a better quality then Sterling would have finished his chance and Mignolet would have saved Negredo's shot, he didn't -they weren't good enough.

To try and also claim you deserve a penalty when your star striker throws himself to the floor arms raised after having his shirt pulled, but your defender makes a career out of doing just that (but our players don't throw themselves to the floor) is rank hypocrisy.

Look, great credit to Liverpool, they gave us our hardest game of the season and I was impressed, but on the day they didn't have enough in their locker to get the draw, which on balance might have been a fair result. However, what that overlooks is how we may have responded had they got that goal.

We took the view that what we have we hold and we did that successfully. Well done blues.

I wonder if Liverpool will do a Newcastle next year regarding europe stretching them.

Liverpool did play well but we pushed harder and with more danger, not by much i should add.
The fact our defense forced Suarez back to the diver is imo a complement to our defense.

Liverpool have a dilemma though now.
Henderson has shown why they bought him in the first place but we only see this with no Gerrard.
He inhibits Henderson imo so they are gonna have to start to fade Gerrard out soonish. He is not getting younger and seemingly impeding Henderson's progress.

A good match for the neutral including my red dad who thinks we deserved the win (just) but was also very impressed with Liverpool.
Did my nerves no good at all but we won and it showed we have the bollocks to get stuck in and not be knocked of our game.
